Your guests are about to arrive, the ham is sliced, the bread is ready – all that's missing is the board that brings it all together. A round beech ham board with a juice groove all the way round turns a simple cold supper into a properly laid table, just right for your evening spread. Any juice that runs off stays in the groove, your table stays clean – and you can give your full attention to your guests.

What changes for you

  • Your table stays clean without constant wiping – because the groove running all the way round reliably catches juices from meat, fruit or vegetables.
  • You can slice with ease and confidence: at 1.5 cm thick, the board sits steadily on the worktop and feels comfortable in your hand.
  • Your knives stay sharp for longer, as the finely sanded beech surface is gentle on blades.
  • Your table instantly feels warmer and more inviting – the natural grain brings a calm, natural look, no extra decoration needed.
  • You'll find exactly the size you need, from a compact 20 cm breakfast board to a generous 30 cm diameter serving platter.

Why this ham board makes a difference every day

A round wooden board on the table changes the whole mood of a meal: hastily set-out cold cuts become a lovingly arranged spread. You slice, serve and pass everything round on the same board – no shuffling things about, no extra crockery. And because every board has its own grain, the piece on your table is one of a kind.

Material & finish

The ham board is made of solid, untreated beech – a dense, hard-wearing wood that will last for many years with the right care. The surface is sanded smooth: pleasant to hold, gentle on knives when slicing and easy to wipe clean after the meal. Colour and grain vary from board to board, and small knots or nuances in the texture are part of its character – not a flaw, but the hallmark of a genuine natural product: every piece is unique. The ham board is made in Germany.

Dimensions & technical details

  • Material: solid beech, finely sanded, untreated
  • Shape: round, with a juice groove running all the way round on one side
  • Diameter: choice of 20 cm, 22 cm, 25 cm or 30 cm
  • Thickness: 1.5 cm for all sizes
  • Made in: Germany

How to use your ham board

  • For an evening spread: slice and serve ham, sausage and gherkins straight on the board – the juice stays in the groove and the table stays dry.
  • At the breakfast table: the small 20 cm size as an individual board at each place – and breakfast looks beautifully laid before you've added any decoration at all.
  • As a pizza serving board: slice the pizza right on the round board and put it straight on the table – no transferring, no scratched plates.
  • In the café or on the buffet: cheese, cold cuts or antipasti look appealing served on beech wood. They are also quick to top up. This keeps your counter looking neat with little effort.
  • Our tip for buffets and dinners: choose the large 30 cm diameter as a cheese board – you can lay out several varieties neatly, and your guests can cut their own right at the table.

Good to know about the ham board

Beech is one of the hardest native hardwoods, which is why it has been the classic wood for chopping and serving boards for generations. The juice groove has a very practical origin: it catches meat juices when carving – exactly what still makes the ham board a tried-and-tested base for roasts, ham and anything that releases juice when sliced.

Care & durability

There's not much to it: after use, rinse with hot water and a little mild washing-up liquid, don't leave it soaking, then stand it upright to dry. It's best to avoid the dishwasher and direct heat – that way the wood keeps its shape. If you rub the board now and then with a thin layer of neutral, food-safe cooking oil (such as rapeseed or sunflower oil), it will keep its warm look for a long time and stay robust in everyday use.

  • Ø 20 cm – small and compact, e.g. as a breakfast board

  • Ø 30 cm – generous size for family, guests and buffets

Frequently asked questions

Is the board suitable for food? Yes. The beech is untreated and finely sanded – for care, we recommend a neutral, food-safe cooking oil such as rapeseed or sunflower oil.

Can the ham board go in the dishwasher? No. Solid wood doesn't belong in the dishwasher – wash by hand, stand upright to dry, done.

Why does my board look different from the picture? Wood is a purely natural material: shade, grain and small knots differ on every board. That's exactly what makes each piece unique.

Does the board have a juice groove on both sides? No, the juice groove is on one side only. You can use the smooth reverse side as an extra work surface.

In the end, it's not about a round beech board. It's about the moment you put the spread on the table, everyone tucks in – and the table looks as inviting as the evening should feel. Simply choose the size that suits your table – Bütic takes care of the rest.
