What changes for you
- Your model roof looks authentic. Every roof shingle is made from real wood veneer, with natural grain instead of a plastic look.
- No sanding or trimming needed. The edges are laser-cut, smooth and precisely sized.
- You'll find the right size for every project. Choose from 28 sizes from 15 mm x 7.5 mm to 150 mm x 75 mm, from a small nativity scene to a large decorative roof.
- Design it your way. The untreated wood can be decorated with stickers, painted, stained or oiled.
- Order exactly the quantity you need. You choose the amount, so there are no unnecessary leftovers.
Why these veneer shingles make a difference
The roof decides whether a model looks homemade or alive. Lay the dark rectangular shingles so they overlap. You get the calm, handcrafted look you know from real shingle roofs. Your nativity house or pyramid gains the depth the bare structure was missing. You'll notice the difference while crafting, too. Instead of struggling with the material, you can see your progress row by row.
Material & finish
Each shingle is made from dark real wood veneer. After you order, it is laser-cut to size in our own production in Pößneck. This gives smooth edges and clean workmanship you can rely on when gluing. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That's why it takes paint, stain or oil well. As a purely natural material, it shows different textures. Some pieces are lighter, some darker, with small irregularities or knots in the grain. This makes every roof one of a kind. It's not a flaw – it's the character of real wood.

How to use the veneer shingles
- Roofing a Christmas pyramid: glue the shingles on row by row so they overlap. When the blades turn in the evening, the shingle roof casts small shadows that bring the pyramid to life.
- On a nativity stable: the dark wooden shingles give the stable a rustic roof. Visitors will happily stop to take a closer look at the nativity scene.
- In model making: cover houses, huts and mills to scale. The 28 sizes fit your project, not the other way round.
- Crafting with children or in a craft class: paint, decorate and glue on the shingles. Every roof turns out different, and each one tells its own story.
- In shop displays: Christmas window houses or counter displays with a real wooden roof look more tangible and detailed than any printed backdrop. And they are quick to cover.
Good to know about wooden shingles
Wooden shingles are among the oldest roof coverings of all. In the Alps and in upland regions, shingle roofs still shape the look of villages today. That's exactly why a model with real veneer shingles feels so familiar. It picks up a picture we all carry in our heads and brings it in miniature to nativity scenes, pyramids and model houses.
Care & durability
There isn't much to do. Indoors, you can use the shingles in their natural state straight away. That way, colour and grain stay lovely for a long time. If your piece is going outdoors, treat the wood first, for example by oiling it. Untreated, it is only suitable for indoor use. Either way, keep the fine veneer away from constant moisture.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use the shingles outdoors? Left natural, they are only suitable for indoor use. For outdoor use, you need to treat the wood first, for example with oil.
Can the shingles be painted or decorated? Yes. The veneer is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. You can decorate it with stickers, stain it, paint it or oil it.
Why don't all the shingles look the same? Wood is a purely natural material. Differences in shade, fine irregularities in the grain and small knots are normal. They make every piece one of a kind.
How thick are the shingles? The material is approx. 0.6–1 mm thick. That's fine enough for roofs to scale and sturdy enough for clean gluing.
Veneer and rectangular cut are only the means. What counts is the moment you lay the last shingle and take a step back. Suddenly your model has a proper roof over its head. Simply choose the size and quantity that suit your project.
