Why these veneer shingles make a real difference
A roof covered with wooden shingles changes how a model looks. The real grain and the irregular shingle shape invite visitors to take a closer look. The dark wood colour makes nativity scenes, houses and Christmas pyramids look naturally aged. No artificial-looking plastic roof tiles needed. Piece by piece, you build a roof of real wood veneer that you can be proud of.
Material & finish
Each shingle is precisely laser-cut from dark real wood veneer in our own production in Pößneck after you order. The edges are smooth, so you can use the shingles straight away without sanding. At approx. 0.6 to 1 mm thick, they are fine enough for small model scales. They are also easy to glue. Wood is a natural material, so every shingle turns out a little different. Varying shades, small irregularities in the grain and the occasional knot are normal. This is what makes your roof look lively and each piece unique.

- In your workshop or shop: you create window or counter displays with real wood. You present your goods with a handcrafted look.
Good to know about wooden shingles
Wooden shingles are among the oldest roof coverings of all. To this day, they shape historic houses, churches and mills. The curved oak leaf shape goes back to classic decorative shingles. That is why nativity scenes, pyramids and model houses covered with them look so authentic, as if taken from an old village scene.
Care & durability
There is not much you need to do. In their natural state, the shingles are meant for indoor use and will last for many years there. If you want to display your work outdoors, treat the wood first, for example by oiling it. This helps it withstand wind and weather. Avoid constant moisture on the untreated veneer, and it will keep its look for a long time.
