The nativity scene is set up and the little house is almost finished. Only the roof still looks bare. With these diamond-shaped veneer shingles, you cover it row by row. The bare shell turns into a miniature building that looks as if a real roofer had done it. These dark wooden shingles are made for your next model-making project. They are delicate, precisely laser-cut and made of real wood.

What changes for you

  • Your model gets a convincing roof with natural depth. Each shingle is made of real veneer and has its own grain.
  • You can tile neatly and evenly without trimming. The precise laser cut gives smooth edges.
  • You will find the right size for almost any scale. Choose from 28 sizes, from a tiny 15 x 7.5 mm up to 150 x 75 mm.
  • You can design freely to suit your idea. The untreated wood can be glued, painted, coated or oiled.
  • You order exactly as many as your project needs. Thanks to the choice of size and quantity, nothing is left over.

Why these veneer shingles make a difference in everyday use

A roof made of printed paper or plastic always looks like a stage set. Real wood, on the other hand, brings warmth and texture to your model. This matters especially for nativity scenes, Christmas pyramids and little houses for Advent. People step closer and take a better look. Your craft project becomes a piece you like to show and bring out again every year.

Material & finish

The shingles are made of dark real wood veneer, approx. 0.6 to 1 mm thick. That is thin enough for delicate roofs and sturdy enough to glue cleanly. Every order is precisely laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. This gives you smooth edges and clean workmanship. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can work with it straight away. As a natural material, every veneer has its own features: different shades, fine grain and occasionally small knots. This makes every shingle unique and keeps your roof lively rather than uniform.

How to use the veneer shingles

  • For nativity scenes: You cover the stable roof row by row from bottom to top. The crib gets a rustic look that works well in candlelight.
  • On a Christmas pyramid: You cover the pyramid roof with the fine wooden diamonds. As the roof turns, each facet catches the candlelight.
  • In model making: Whether it is a half-timbered house, a mill or a station building, the 28 sizes suit your scale. You don't have to cut each piece yourself.
  • For creative crafts: You paint or decorate the diamonds for cards, signs and all kinds of decorations. With little effort, you add a visible wooden detail.
  • In a show workshop or shop window: A miniature house roofed with wooden shingles in your Christmas display draws attention and shows handcraft. It needs no big set-up.

Good to know about diamond-shaped shingles

Diamond shingles have a long tradition. On houses in the Black Forest, the Alps and the Ore Mountains, they have protected roofs and façades from wind and weather for centuries. The typical diamond pattern comes from laying them offset and overlapping. If you fit your veneer shingles the same way, row by row from bottom to top, your model house or nativity scene looks like the real thing in miniature.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Left natural, the shingles are meant for indoor use. Kept dry, they last for many years there. If your project is going outdoors, treat the wood first, for example with oil. That way the dark veneer keeps looking good in wind and weather.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the shingles outdoors? Left natural, they are only suitable for indoor use. For outdoor use, you need to treat the wood first, for example with oil.

Can I paint or decorate the shingles? Yes. The veneer is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, oil and glue well.

Do all the shingles look the same? No, and that is intentional. Wood is a natural material with different shades, grain and occasionally small knots. Every shingle is unique. This makes your roof look more natural.

How thick are the shingles? The material is approx. 0.6 to 1 mm thick. It is delicate enough for model making and keeps its shape when glued.
