The Christmas cards are on the table. The children have already got the glue and paints ready. All that's missing is something made of real wood to give the crafting some warmth. That's exactly what these dark veneer squares are for. They are flat squares of real wood veneer with softly rounded corners, from 1 x 1 cm to 10 x 10 cm. Place a square on top, and your card, gift or table decoration instantly has a real wood element.

What changes for you

  • Your cards and gifts instantly look more refined. Real dark wood veneer has a depth that printed paper can't match.
  • You'll find the right size for every project. The squares come in sizes from 1 x 1 to 10 x 10 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can start painting, gluing, writing on or oiling them straight away. The wood is untreated and takes paint and glue well.
  • You work with clean, even shapes. Every square is precisely laser-cut and has smooth edges.
  • No sharp corners to hurt yourself on, and nothing gets caught. The corners are slightly rounded, which is also helpful when crafting with children.

Why these veneer squares make a difference in everyday use

Table scatter on a festive table, small labels at the buffet or homemade gift tags: real wood looks calm and natural and suits almost any style. You don't need to decorate much. Scatter a few dark wood squares, and the table looks thoughtful and lovingly laid. And because the veneer is wafer-thin, you can glue it onto cards and flat surfaces without adding bulk.

Material & finish

  • Real wood veneer in Macore or Sapelli/mahogany. The dark, warm colour comes straight from the wood, not from a coat of varnish.
  • Very fine, with a veneer thickness of approx. 0.6 mm. Ideal for gluing flat onto cards, gifts and decorations.
  • Precisely laser-cut with smooth edges. Every square has an even shape and needs no finishing.
  • Untreated, not varnished or glazed. You decide whether to paint it, oil it or leave the wood natural.
  • Wood is a natural material. Every square shows its own grain and shade, and small knots are possible. That makes each piece one of a kind.
  • Made in our own production by Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the veneer squares

  • Making Christmas cards: glue on a small square as a background for a star or a greeting. When the card is opened, there's a wood element you can feel.
  • Making money gifts: arrange notes or coins on a dark wood square and add a short message. You have a gift idea that doesn't look last-minute.
  • As table scatter on a festive table: spread different sizes loosely between candles and napkins. Your table gets a natural common thread with no effort.
  • Crafting with children: each child paints their own square. Little works of art on real wood that are still lovely to look at years later.
  • In a café, at the shop counter or at the market: write a price or variety name on the squares and place them in front of the goods as discreet labels. They're quick to swap and always look tidy.
  • For model making and decoration projects: a flat base shape to decorate, glue and combine. Precisely laser-cut in exactly the size your project needs.

Good to know about veneer

Veneer means wafer-thin sheets of real wood. Cabinetmakers have used this technique for centuries to use fine woods like mahogany sparingly over larger surfaces. You benefit from this when crafting. You get the look and grain of real dark hardwood. Yet it's so thin and light that you can glue it onto cards, gifts and decorations.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Store the squares in a dry place and protect them from constant moisture. Then they keep their shape and warm colour. As the wood is untreated, you can oil or paint it as you like. That way your decorations stay looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or glue things onto the squares? Yes, the wood is untreated and neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint it, glue onto it, write on it, stain it or oil it.

How thick is the veneer? At approx. 0.6 mm, the squares are very fine and add hardly any bulk to cards or flat surfaces.

Do all the squares look the same? No. Wood is a purely natural material. Grain, shade and small knots vary from piece to piece. This is not a defect. It makes every square unique.

Are the edges clean? Yes, the squares are precisely laser-cut and have smooth edges and slightly rounded corners.

Where do the squares come from? From our own production in Thuringia, Germany. Every square is laser-cut there for you.

A piece of veneer is just the start. What counts is the moment someone holds your card, runs a finger over the real wood and feels that it was made with love. Simply choose your size and quantity – and get started.
