Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The glue is ready and the table is covered in paper. But your Christmas cards still need a material you can really feel. These dark brown wenge veneer squares are made for exactly that. They are wafer-thin wooden squares with rounded corners. You can decorate them, paint them and stick them on. Flat paper crafts gain depth and character.
What changes for you
- Your cards and gifts then carry real wood. On light paper, the dark wenge veneer creates a calm, warm contrast.
- You can decorate the squares straight away, with no preparation. The wood is untreated. You can stick things on it, paint it, write on it or oil it.
- You will find the right size for every project, from tiny table scatter to a base for lettering. The sizes range from 1 x 1 cm to 10 x 10 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can easily stick the flat squares onto cards, gifts or models. With a veneer thickness of only approx. 0.7 mm, they add hardly any bulk.
- Working with them is pleasant and tidy. Laser-cut, smooth edges and rounded corners make them easy to handle, even when crafting with children.
Why these veneer squares make a difference in everyday use
It is the difference between printed paper and real material in your hand. A small square of dark wood turns a card into a little gift. On a laid table, it adds an element of natural wood. As table scatter, the squares bring calm and a natural look to the table without being intrusive. And because every piece has its own grain, no two projects look the same.
Material & finish
Every square is made of real wenge veneer. We laser-cut it to exact size for you in our own production in Pößneck. This gives clean, smooth edges and an even shape, even in the smallest sizes. The surface is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That is why paints, glues and oils adhere reliably. Wood is a purely natural material. Small differences in shade and grain as well as fine knots are part of it. They make every piece one of a kind, not a flaw.

How to use the veneer squares
- Making Christmas cards: stick on a dark wooden square as a base and write a greeting on it. Your card will feel as if it came from a small artisan maker.
- Crafting money gifts: combine notes and squares, write on them or paint them. The gift gets wrapping made of real wood instead of paper.
- As table scatter on a festive table: spread out different sizes loosely. Between plates and glasses, the dark wood adds calm dots of natural material.
- In model making: cover surfaces or add details. The thin veneer adds hardly any bulk and is easy to work with cleanly.
- Making Christmas decorations with children: paint the squares, decorate them and hang them up. Every child creates their own one-of-a-kind piece from real wood.
- In a café, bakery or at a market stall: write on small squares by hand and use them as variety or price tags. Your counter looks lovingly presented rather than random.
Good to know about veneer
Veneer means wafer-thin sheets of real wood. The German word “Furnier” goes back to the French “fournir” (to supply, to furnish). For you, this means real grain and real material. Yet it is so thin and light that you can stick it on like paper. That makes it ideal for cards, gifts and delicate decorating ideas.
Care & durability
There is not much you need to do. Store the squares in a dry place, ideally lying flat. This keeps the delicate veneers flat and stable. Avoid constant moisture, as untreated wood absorbs water. If you want a protected surface, you can simply oil or paint the squares yourself.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the squares or stick things on them? Yes. The wood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, write on it, coat it or oil it.
How thick are the squares? Very fine: the veneer is approx. 0.7 mm thick. This means they add hardly any bulk to cards and gifts.
Do all the squares look the same? No. Wood is a natural material. Shade and grain vary slightly, and small knots are possible. That is exactly what makes every piece one of a kind.
Are the edges sharp? No. The squares are cleanly laser-cut. The edges are smooth and the corners slightly rounded.
A few centimetres of veneer can mean a lot. Someone opens your card and runs a finger over the dark wood. They feel that you put thought into it. Just choose your size and quantity – and get started.
