Why these veneer shingles make a real difference
A roof of real wooden shingles changes the look of a whole model. A painted surface becomes one with depth, texture and a warm wood tone. Your nativity scene, model house or Christmas pyramid gets that small, fine difference you notice straight away. And you'll be truly proud of it. At Christmas especially, crafting becomes a calm, cosy moment the whole family looks forward to.
Material & finish
The shingles are made of dark real wood veneer with a thickness of approx. 0.6 to 1 mm. Thin enough for delicate roofs, firm enough to glue neatly. Thanks to laser cutting, the edges are smooth and all shingles are exactly the same size. So your rows lie evenly. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. In its natural state, it is suitable for indoor use. For outdoor use, you need to treat it, for example with oil. Wood is a purely natural material. Colour, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. This makes every roof one of a kind and is not a defect. Each piece is made to order in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the veneer shingles
- Building a nativity scene during Advent: you cover the roof row by row. On Christmas Eve, your nativity scene looks as if it came straight from a woodcarver's workshop.
- On a Christmas pyramid: with a shingled roof, a piece of handcraft turns in the candlelight. One you'll bring out again every year.
- In model making: houses, huts and mills get an authentic shingle roof look at the right scale. No tedious cutting needed.
- For designing and painting: you paint, stain or oil the shingles in the colour you want. This way you can match them to your project.
- For shop and window displays: a winter scene in a bakery or a decorative little house in a café. With real wooden shingles, the display looks handmade and is set up in no time.
Good to know about wooden shingles
Wooden shingles are among the oldest roof coverings of all. In the Alps and other upland regions, they have protected churches, farmhouses and mountain huts for centuries. A pointed shingle roof gives nativity scenes and model houses the same look you know from old roofs.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Indoors, you can simply use the shingles in their natural state for years. If your project is going outside, treat the wood first, for example with oil. That way it stands up to wind and weather and keeps its look for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Are the shingles suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, they are for indoor use only. For outdoors, you need to treat the wood, for example by oiling it.
Can I paint the shingles or stick things on them? Yes. The veneer is untreated. You can glue, paint, colour or oil it.
Do all the shingles look exactly the same? In shape and size, yes, because they are precisely laser-cut. Colour and grain do vary, though. Wood is a natural material. Small knots and differences in texture are normal and make every piece unique.
How thick are the shingles? The material thickness is approx. 0.6 to 1 mm. Ideal for delicate roofs in model making and nativity scenes.
Veneer and laser cutting are only the means. What counts is the moment you fit the last shingle and take a step back. And your roof looks as if a carpenter had covered it in miniature. Simply choose the size and quantity that suit your project.
