Your head is throbbing. Your eyes are burning after a long day at the screen. And you just want to switch off for a while. That is exactly what the kawako gel eye mask is made for. Take it out of the fridge, lie down and put it on. The pleasant coolness settles gently over your forehead and eyes. Use it as a cooling eye mask for migraines, as a warm compress for eyelid care or as a sleep mask at night. It is there for many short breaks.

What changes for you

  • You give your eyes real rest after screen work. The chilled gel mask soothes tired, dry and irritated eyes.
  • You can lie still more comfortably during a migraine or headache. The adjustable comfort hook-and-loop strap keeps the mask securely in place without slipping.
  • You look more rested after a short use. When chilled, the mask helps with puffy eyes and bags under the eyes, for example after a short night.
  • You get a cold and a warm compress in one. Chill it in the fridge or warm it in a water bath, depending on what you need.
  • You can use the mask again and again. It is reusable as often as you like, skin-friendly and hygienic.

Why this gel eye mask makes a difference in everyday life

A quarter of an hour with the mask on, quiet music and your eyes closed can change a whole afternoon. The tension eases, your vision clears and you feel fresher. Instead of reaching for eye drops again and again, you simply put on the mask. Use it in your lunch break, after gardening in pollen season or in the evening on the sofa. An irritated moment becomes a short, reliable break.

Material & finish

The cover is made of strong, transparent vinyl and filled with non-toxic gel. This lets the mask fit softly to your forehead and eye area. It holds both cold and warmth for a pleasantly long time. The surface is skin-friendly and hygienic. You can adjust the comfort hook-and-loop strap to fit your head size. At Bütic you will find the original kawako eye mask in six gel colours, so you can pick the one you like.

How to use the gel eye mask

  • For migraines and headaches: put on the chilled mask and adjust the strap loosely. The cold gives you a soothing break.
  • After long screen work: put it on for ten minutes in your lunch break. Dry, itchy eyes calm down, and you start the afternoon feeling fresher.
  • For puffy eyes in the morning: wear it chilled for a few minutes. The swelling goes down, whether after a short night or a long party.
  • In hay fever season: the cooling eye mask soothes irritated eyes. It often saves you reaching for eye drops.
  • As a warm compress: place the mask in hot, not boiling, water for approx. 5 minutes. Then wear it for 5–10 minutes. A proven method for eyelid margin care, for example with blepharitis, a chalazion, a stye or dry eyes.
  • As a sleep mask: worn at room temperature, it stays securely on your head thanks to the hook-and-loop strap and blocks out light. This makes it a sleep mask for home and travel.
  • Our tip for cooling: Store the gel mask only in the fridge (on the bottom shelf) and never in the freezer. A mask that is too cold can have the opposite effect. In the worst case it can trigger a cold allergy.

Good to know about cold and warm compresses

Cold and warmth work very differently on the eye area. Cold reduces swelling and soothes irritated skin. Warmth has long been used for eyelid care, for example to help blocked eyelid glands. A gel mask that does both replaces two aids at once. Use it for a quick refresher as well as for a calm evening routine.

Care & durability

  • There is not much you need to do. The hygienic vinyl surface is easy to keep clean, and the mask is reusable as often as you like.
  • For cooling, the mask belongs in the fridge, not the freezer compartment. This keeps the cold pleasant and protects the material.
  • For warming, only use hot water, never boiling water. That way the gel mask will serve you reliably for a long time.
