Your guests are about to arrive, the table is laid – only the taper candle keeps wobbling in its candlestick. With the conical candle holder in silver, it sits firmly and straight: the tinplate candle cup holds taper candles and dinner candles with a tapered base securely, and thanks to its collar it fits neatly into candlesticks, Advent wreaths and home-made candle holders – just right for your festive table. A matching drip catcher is available as an option, on its own or as a set.

What changes for you

  • Your candle stands securely and straight because the conical shape guides the candle base – 22mm inner diameter at the top, tapering to approx. 16mm at the bottom.
  • You'll avoid wax stains on your tablecloth and arrangements if you add the optional drip catcher with an outer diameter of approx. 48mm.
  • Fitting the cup is no fiddly job, because the approx. 3mm collar all the way round covers the drilled hole – either sitting flush (hole approx. 23mm) or held firmly as a press fit (approx. 22mm).
  • You can count on consistent quality, as the candle cups are made in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) in Germany.
  • Whether it's a single candlestick or a whole series of craft projects, you'll find the right quantity, because the candle cup, drip catcher and combination set are available in packs from 4 to 100.

Why this candle cup makes a difference day to day

A crooked candle catches the eye straight away – a straight one brings calm to the whole scene. With a well-fitting cup, you can light your taper candles without first kneading wax or wrapping them in foil, and your candlestick looks well cared for at a glance. So candlelight gives you exactly what you want: a cosy, relaxed evening rather than worrying about your tablecloth and decorations.

Material & finish

The candle cup is made of silver-coloured tinplate and neatly finished – an even shape, no sharp burrs, and a subtle sheen that blends discreetly into candlesticks and arrangements. The metal holds its shape, so the cup keeps its fit even when you change candles often. Worth knowing when you plan: the material is not rust-proof, so the cup is intended for indoor use.

How to use the candle cup

  • On the Advent wreath: fit four cups, pop in four candles – and your wreath stands straight and safe on the table from the first to the fourth Sunday of Advent.
  • Rescuing a candlestick: swap the worn-out cup in your old candlestick for a new one – and the heirloom goes back on the dining table instead of into the cupboard.
  • For DIY projects: drill a hole of approx. 23mm or approx. 22mm into your wooden candle holder or Schwibbogen candle arch, fit the cup – and the collar neatly covers the edge of the hole.
  • On the festive table: with a drip catcher under every candle, your best tablecloth stays clean during Christmas dinner – and you get to enjoy the evening instead of ironing out wax.
  • In cafés or for catering: with the large sets of up to 100, you can fit out lots of table candlesticks uniformly and have replacements to hand whenever a cup needs changing.

Good to know about tinplate

Tinplate is thin sheet steel with a fine coating of tin – which gives it its silvery shimmer and its name. It has a long tradition as a material for candle cups and candlestick accessories, because it holds its shape and can be made with precision. However, the tin layer doesn't protect against rust in permanently damp conditions – so the cup belongs in dry indoor spaces.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do: use the candle cup in dry indoor spaces and keep it away from moisture, as the tinplate is not rust-proof. Once cooled, wax residue comes away easily from the smooth metal surface – so the silver look stays well kept for a long time, with no effort at all.

Frequently asked questions

Which candles is the cup suitable for? For taper candles and dinner candles with a tapered base and a 22mm diameter – the conical inner shape (22mm at the top, approx. 16mm at the bottom) holds the candle base securely.

Can I use the candle holder outdoors? No, it's intended for indoor use. The tinplate is not rust-proof and shouldn't be exposed to moisture.

How do I fit the cup into wood or a candlestick? You have two options: a hole of approx. 23mm, where the collar sits flush, or a press fit of approx. 22mm for an especially firm hold.

Is the drip catcher included? Only if you choose it: the cup and drip catcher are available individually or together as a set, each in quantities from 4 to 100 pieces.

In the end, it's not about a tinplate cup. It's about the moment you light the candles, everything stands straight and you can give your full attention to your guests. Simply choose the version and quantity that suit your project – at Bütic you'll find both, single or in a set.
