After training, your horse is standing in the grooming area, the back feels tight, the shoulder hard – exactly the moment for the ‘Ari’ fascia roller for horses. Simply take the wide nubbed roller made from solid beechwood in your hand and guide it calmly over the neck, shoulder, back and hindquarters – no mains power, no batteries, no preparation. A few minutes in the grooming area become a calm moment for you both – as if made for your stable routine.

What changes for you

  • You can reach even strong, deep-lying muscle groups, because the closely set, pyramid-shaped nubs create pressure that is intense yet easy to control.
  • You work quickly over large areas, because the roller is 12.5 cm wide – a few minutes per side are enough, rather than working hand's width by hand's width.
  • Your wrist stays relaxed even during longer sessions, because the ergonomically shaped handle sits securely in your hand.
  • You can feel exactly how much pressure is getting through, because the surface is left untreated – neither varnished nor oiled.
  • The massage roller will stay in your grooming box for many years in the stable, because solid beechwood is robust and there is no delicate technology involved.

Why this fascia roller makes a difference day to day

A fascia roller for horses turns grooming into more than routine: you consciously take your time, and your horse visibly relaxes – chewing, yawning or a lowered neck show you that it is working. Before riding, you warm up the muscles; afterwards, you let the session wind down calmly. This way, massage becomes a fixed, reliable part of your time together, with no effort or technology involved.

Material & finish

‘Ari’ is turned from solid beech, sanded smooth and checked – made in the EU. Beech is hard enough for a horse’s strong muscles and still feels warm in your hand. The handle and roller are made of honest wood and the surface is left untreated; only the axle is oiled at the factory so that the roller runs quietly. Grain, colour variations and small knots are part of the natural material – they are not flaws but make every roller unique.

How to use the fascia roller

  • Before riding: stand to the side of your horse, place the roller flat on a large muscle area and warm up the muscles with calm strokes in the direction of hair growth – your horse starts work more relaxed.
  • After training: work over the neck, shoulder, back and hindquarters with moderate pressure suited to your horse – the session winds down calmly, and chewing or a lowered neck tells you that it feels good.
  • Leisure, sport and senior horses: By adjusting speed and pressure, you can tailor the massage to every horse; leave out bony, sensitive or irritated areas.
  • Riding schools and livery yards: a robust fascia roller for horses that needs no technology, takes up hardly any space in the grooming box and holds up even when several pairs of hands use it every day.
  • Alongside physiotherapy: As part of a routine between treatment appointments, in consultation with your therapist or your vet.

Good to know about beechwood

Beech is one of the hardest native hardwoods and has long been used for tool handles and everyday items that take a lot of wear. It is exactly this hardness that makes it so well suited to a massage roller for horses: the nubs keep their shape, even when you work over strong muscles with noticeable pressure.

Care & durability

There’s not much you need to do: simply brush off dust and hair, wipe with a slightly damp cloth if needed and leave to dry thoroughly. Avoid prolonged wetness, the dishwasher and harsh cleaning agents – that way the wood keeps its shape and its smoothly sanded surface. Wood on metal can start to squeak over time, especially in dry stable air; that’s why Bütic oils every axle before dispatch. If the noise comes back, a drop of oil where the metal of the handle disappears into the roller is all it takes – you can repeat this at any time, and it’s no cause for concern.

Frequently asked questions

Is the roller treated or varnished? No, ‘Ari’ is left completely untreated – neither varnished nor oiled. If you like, you can treat it yourself with an animal-friendly care oil; only the axle is oiled at the factory.

How much pressure is right? Medium pressure suited to your horse is enough. Your horse will quickly show you what feels good – if it reacts defensively, simply ease off the pressure or skip that area.

Which areas of the body is ‘Ari’ suitable for? For the large muscle groups of the neck, shoulder, back and hindquarters. Avoid bony areas, joints and irritated skin.

Can I also use the roller on ponies or other animals? Yes, it works wherever there are larger muscle areas. With smaller animals, use correspondingly less pressure.

Does every roller look the same? No – beech is a natural material, so the grain and colour vary slightly. Every piece is one of a kind.

In the end, it isn’t about a wooden roller with nubs. It’s about that moment in the grooming area when your horse lowers its neck, starts to chew and you both shift down a gear. Just pop ‘Ari’ in your grooming box – and make massage a fixed part of your routine.
