Features
This felt is made from synthetic fibres. That makes it long-lasting and tough. It is very tear-resistant, elastic, flexible and hard-wearing. The surface is soft and slightly rough. The felt is also water-repellent, dries quickly and is UV-resistant.
We offer polyester felt in 15 colours.
How polyester felt is made
The felt is made from polyester (PET). Most of it comes from recycled PET bottles. The polyester is melted down and spun into fine fibres. These are spread out on a long belt. They form an even web that is still loose.
The web is bonded in one of three ways. Fine needles punch through it so the fibres hook into each other. Or the web is heated. The fibres then fuse and form a fairly smooth surface. Or a binding agent is worked in. All three methods produce a firm felt that holds its shape.
Working with HDF
We laser-cut the polyester felt into the shape you want. You can then work with it in many ways. Cut it with scissors or a craft knife. Sew it by hand or on a sewing machine. Glue things onto it, print on it or decorate it with fabric pens.
Care
You can wash polyester felt by hand or in the machine.
