Thick dinner candles 28 mm – 180 mm long, coloured through

On a candlestick, on a festive table, on an Advent wreath: this is where a candle needs to burn all evening and stand firm. These dinner candles measure 28 mm in diameter and 180 mm in length and burn for around 8.5 hours. They are noticeably thicker than a standard dinner candle. They sit securely on a spike or in a candle cup for 28 to 30 mm.

Which holder fits?

Standard candle holders and candle cups are made for 22 mm. This candle won't fit into them. It belongs on the spike of a candlestick or wreath, or in a holder with a candle cup for 28 to 30 mm. Standing freely on a plate, it is too wobbly. Only in a lantern can it stand without a holder. Looking for a candle for the candle holders you already have? How to use the thick dinner candles

• On a candlestick: On a sideboard, mantelpiece or altar table, in white or ivory.
• On the festive table: For Christmas, a wedding or a milestone birthday, place three candles in low holders along the table.
• On the Advent wreath: Four candles on the spikes of the wreath, in red, white or ivory. At around two hours each Sunday, even the first candle will last until the fourth Sunday of Advent.
• On the Easter table: Yellow or white in ceramic holders between painted Easter eggs.
• In a large lantern: On the spike or standing freely on the base of a floor lantern by the front door or on the patio.
• In three heights: Combine 180 mm with 100 and 250 mm in the same colour on a tray.
• Our tip for a steady burn: Trim the wick to 5 to 10 mm before each lighting. Keep the candle out of draughts. Leave at least 100 mm between two burning candles.

Care & durability

Store the candles in a dry, cool and dark place. This keeps their shape and colour. Place burning candles on a heat-resistant surface and never leave them unattended. This matters twice as much on a wreath: fir branches dry out and catch fire easily.

Frequently asked questions

Will the candle fit my candlestick? Yes, if it has a spike or a candle cup for 28 to 30 mm. It won't fit standard 22 mm candle cups.

Can I stand the candle on a plate? Better not. Without a spike or candle cup, the 180 mm candle is too wobbly. It can only stand freely in a lantern.

Do the candles smell when burning? No. They are odour-neutral.
