Your friend has just qualified as a doctor and the graduation party is coming up. Or the practice is getting a new decoration corner. Or the pharmacy is celebrating an anniversary. You need a motif that everyone understands straight away. A cardboard Rod of Asclepius brings the symbol of medicine to the table, the wall or the gift. It is made for your next celebration around medicine and nursing. Paint it, stick things on it or leave it plain, whatever suits your occasion.

What changes for you

  • You get the right size for every spot. You choose the height freely from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You design the motif exactly as you like. The untreated bookbinding board can be painted, glued, coated or varnished.
  • Your craft project stays relaxed, even with children. The smooth surface takes paint and glue well.
  • You can decorate with a clear conscience. The solid board is made from 100 % recycled material.
  • You get clean, even outlines. Every piece is laser-cut and shows the typical brown edges.

Why this cardboard Rod of Asclepius makes a difference in everyday use

A symbol often says more than a long line of lettering. The Rod of Asclepius shows at a glance what it is all about. That works at a graduation party, at the practice reception or in the pharmacy window. You don't have to spend ages looking for suitable decorations. You have a motif that you design yourself and that fits your occasion exactly. Your decoration looks thoughtful and personal, without much effort.

Material & finish

The 1.2 mm bookbinding board weighs 755 g/m². It is solid board in bookbinding quality. It feels sturdy in your hand. It doesn't warp as quickly as thin card when you craft with it. The surface is smooth and untreated, so paint, varnish and glue stick reliably. Laser cutting creates the characteristic brown edges that frame the cutout. Every Rod of Asclepius is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia, with clean, careful finishing.

How to use the Rod of Asclepius

  • For a passed exam in medicine or nursing: a large, painted Rod of Asclepius as the centre of the gift decoration. Everyone knows straight away who is being celebrated today.
  • Crafting with children: paint small cutouts and stick them onto cards. That way you create get-well wishes that really come from the heart.
  • As a money gift idea: attach notes to the motif or build the rod into a gift box. A contribution towards medical training gets a fitting frame.
  • In a practice or pharmacy: combine several sizes in the shop window or at reception. The decoration is quick to set up and suits the medical setting.
  • For anniversaries, engagements, birthdays or Valentine's Day in a medical setting: place the symbol as table decoration at every seat. The theme of the party runs through the whole evening.

Facts about the Rod of Asclepius

The Rod of Asclepius goes back to Asclepius, the god of medicine in Greek mythology. Since ancient times, the snake winding around the staff has been a sign of healing and renewal. To this day, the symbol stands for medicine, nursing and pharmacies worldwide. That is exactly why the cutout suits graduation parties, practice openings and gifts for anyone working in healthcare.

Care & durability

There is not much you need to do. The board is untreated, so it keeps its shape and colour for a long time if stored dry. Protect the cutout from moisture and wet. Then you will enjoy your decoration for a long time. If you paint or varnish it, the surface becomes more resistant.
