A money gift for your best friend who is moving to Berlin. A sign for a first-day-at-school party in the capital. Or simply a free afternoon at the kitchen table with a brush and paint. With the Berlin cardboard cutout, you have the outline of the state ready to use. It's made for your next craft project. There's nothing left to cut out. You can start painting, sticking and decorating right away.

What changes for you

  • You save yourself the fiddly job of cutting by hand. The Berlin outline comes out of the board already neatly laser-cut.
  • Your shape keeps its form while you paint and decorate it. That's thanks to the sturdy solid board, 1.2 mm thick and 755 g/m².
  • You can design it just the way you like. The untreated, smooth surface takes paint, varnish and glue well.
  • You'll find the right size for every project. Choose a width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can craft with a clear conscience. The bookbinding board is made from 100 % recycled material.

Why this cardboard cutout makes a difference day to day

Many craft ideas don't fail because of the idea. They fail at the start: finding a template, tracing it, cutting it out. And in the end, the outline still isn't right. With the ready-made Berlin outline, you go straight to the fun part: decorating. An afternoon with the children, a gift idea or a party decoration turns into a result you're happy to show off much faster.

Material & finish

The cutout is made from sturdy solid board in bookbinding quality. It's the same material that keeps book covers stiff. So Berlin feels nice and firm in your hand. It doesn't warp at the first coat of paint. The surface is smooth and untreated. The edges are brown from the laser. This comes from the production process and gives the cutout a clean, crisp edge. You can stick things on the board, paint it or varnish it. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the Berlin cutout

  • Crafting with children: each child paints their own Berlin. At the end, a colourful gallery of capitals hangs in the children's room.
  • For money gifts: attach banknotes to the outline and add a short message. Your gift for the move to Berlin tells its own story straight away.
  • As wall decoration: combine several sizes or choose one large cutout in the colour of your choice. Your memories of the capital get a permanent spot in the hallway or living room.
  • For weddings, engagements, birthdays or Valentine's Day: decorate it as a sign, place card or guest gift. Your guests will see straight away that there's a personal link to Berlin.
  • In a shop, café or at the market: use it as a painted sign or counter decoration with a Berlin theme. It's quick to decorate and clearly shows your local ties.

Good to know about Berlin

Berlin is not only Germany's capital. As a city state, it is also one of the three German states that consist of just one city. That's why its outline is compact and instantly recognisable. This makes it a popular shape for keepsakes, farewell gifts and decorations for a move to or visit to the capital.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store the cutout somewhere dry and protect it from lasting damp, as the board is untreated. Sealed with paint or varnish, your finished piece will keep its shape and look good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the cutout and stick things on it? Yes. The smooth, untreated surface can be painted, varnished and decorated with glued-on items. It's ideal for acrylic paints, paper, photos or banknotes.

Is the board suitable for outdoor use? The board is untreated and should be protected from moisture. For outdoor use, we recommend a protective coat of varnish. For long-term use, it's best kept indoors.

How tall is the cutout at a given width? The height depends on the Berlin outline. At a width of 10 cm, the height is 8 cm. Larger widths scale accordingly.

What is the board made of? Sturdy bookbinding board, 1.2 mm thick and 755 g/m², made from 100 % recycled material.

Where does the cutout come from? Every outline is laser-cut in Thuringia. Each one has clean, brown edges and the same consistent finish.

What counts is more than a piece of board. It's the moment someone holds your hand-decorated Berlin and immediately thinks of their city. Just choose your size – you design the rest.
