An afternoon at the kitchen table: the paints are ready and the children look for their own state. Piece by piece, your own map of Germany takes shape on the wall. That is exactly what these cardboard states are made for. You get all 16 German states, cut out individually. They are for crafting, painting and fitting together like a puzzle. A plain sheet of cardboard becomes a project you share – at home, in the classroom or at a party.
What changes for you
- You design your map of Germany just the way you like – because you can stick things on the untreated bookbinding board, paint it and varnish it.
- Your result looks neat with no tidying up needed – thanks to the precise laser cut with a clearly recognisable outline of each state.
- You find the right size for your wall, table or project – because you can choose the total height from 20 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Your crafting session with children turns into a geography lesson along the way – because all 16 states fit together like a puzzle.
- You can craft with a clear conscience. The solid board is made from 100% recycled material.
Why these cardboard states make a difference in everyday life
A ready-printed map of Germany is something you just hang up. These cutouts you make your own. You can pick up each state on its own, design it and put it in its place. In the end, something hangs on the wall that tells a story. Use it as wall decor in the hallway, as a learning aid in the children's room or as a conversation starter at a family celebration. What you made yourself stays in view and gets people talking.
Material & finish
The firm solid board in bookbinding quality is 1.2 mm thick and feels stable in your hand. It doesn't warp as easily as thin craft card when you paint it. The surface is smooth and untreated. Paints, varnishes and glue stick well. The brown edges from the laser cut give every outline a calm, natural frame. Every state is cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. It is neatly finished down to the smallest border.

How to use the federal states cutouts
- Crafting with children: each state gets its own colour. As you put them together, the map of Germany sticks in your mind state by state.
- In a school or geography project: the class labels state capitals and rivers. The puzzle on the pinboard makes geography hands-on.
- For a wedding or engagement: mark where you met, where you live and where you're getting married on the outlines. Your guests can see your story at a glance.
- As wall decor at home: cover the pieces with photos from your last holiday. The 16 pieces become a map of your own memories in the hallway or living room.
- In a café, shop or at the weekly market: show your regional roots with your own state in the shop window. It is understated and quick to set up.
- For a birthday, party or celebration: use a painted state as a card motif or table decoration. The theme of the evening is literally on the table.
Good to know about the federal states
Since reunification in 1990, Germany has been made up of 16 federal states. They range from the city states of Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen to Bavaria, the largest by area. That is why the individual cutouts work so well for learning and decorating. Each piece has its own distinctive shape. Only when you put them together do you see the whole picture.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Keep the untreated cardboard dry and protect it from prolonged damp. That way the cutouts keep their shape for a long time. Painting or varnishing them also makes the surface more resistant. So your decoration stays looking good for years.
