A biology lesson is coming up. Or you want to make your practice more engaging. Or you're looking for a motif that shows belonging together. With this cardboard DNA strand, you have a shape you can design just the way you like. It's made for your next craft project. Small as table scatter or in a large size: you choose the size and design, the cutout provides the shape.

What changes for you

  • You can start crafting your DNA strand straight away. The smooth surface reliably takes paint, varnish and glue.
  • You get exactly the size you need. The height can be chosen from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your motif looks clean and even, thanks to the laser-cut outlines with their typical brown edges.
  • You can craft with a clear conscience. The cardboard is made from 100% recycled material.
  • You don't have to cut it out by hand. With an intricate shape like the double helix, that's a real advantage.

Why this cardboard DNA strand makes a difference day to day

Cutting out a double helix freehand takes time and patience. And it rarely turns out truly even. With the ready-made cutout, you go straight to the fun part: painting, gluing and decorating. Your idea turns into a visible result faster. Whether it's for the classroom, the party table or the shop window.

Material & finish

The cutout is made from sturdy solid board in bookbinding quality. It is 1.2 mm thick and weighs 755 g/m². It feels solid in your hand and keeps its shape while you work on it. The surface is smooth and untreated. So you can glue, paint or varnish it as you like. The outlines are laser-cut, which explains the clean brown edges. They are part of the material's character. Every DNA strand is made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the DNA strand

  • In biology lessons: the pupils paint the bases in different colours. The cutout becomes a clear DNA strand model that each of them has designed themselves.
  • For a wedding or Valentine's Day: add your names, and the double helix becomes a playful symbol that you belong together.
  • In a practice, lab or pharmacy: several strands in the shop window or at reception give your rooms a theme that suits your field.
  • For a graduation party or birthday: small strands as table scatter, a large one as the centrepiece. The party theme is clear at a glance.
  • At a craft group or children's birthday party: everyone gets a blank, and the paints are ready. At the end, every child takes their own artwork home.

Good to know about the DNA strand

Since it was first described in 1953, the double helix has become probably the best-known symbol of genetic information, research and life. That's exactly why the motif works so well for school and lessons, for practices and labs. It also suits any occasion about belonging together, from an engagement to an anniversary.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated cutout in a dry place and protect it from moisture. Then the cardboard keeps its shape for a long time. A coat of paint or varnish makes the surface even more resistant.
