Wooden lettering – veneer letters Magnolia, dark wenge

Wenge comes from Central Africa. It is one of the darkest woods there is by nature. The deep colour is not a coating but the wood's real colour. That's why you need neither stain nor varnish for high-contrast lettering. On light cards, signs and furniture, every letter stands out on its own.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. The letters are very delicate at approx. 0.6 mm, so handle them carefully and keep them dry while working. Once glued on, the untreated wenge veneer keeps its dark colour and fine grain without any further care.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the lower case letters shorter than the chosen size? The chosen height refers to the capital letters. Lower case letters are made to the scale of the typeface. For comparison, in Arial at 10 cm: the capital O is 10 cm high, the small a is 7.3 cm and the small h is 9.7 cm. The small g is 10 cm high but reaches about 2.6 cm below the baseline. In script typefaces, lower case letters are often a little smaller still.

Which size should I order for a whole word? Order all letters of a word in the same size, even if it starts with a capital letter. That way the upper and lower case letters match in scale.

Is the wood treated? No, the wenge veneer is left natural, neither painted nor oiled. The dark colour and fine grain are natural.

Can I glue the letters on? Yes, the letters can be glued and used for all kinds of decoration – for example on cards, signs, furniture or the wall.

Why do some letters extend beyond the chosen height? Some capital letters in the Magnolia Plantation typeface have flourishes that go beyond the selectable height. That is part of the typeface.
