A name on the nursery door, a monogram on a gift box, a saying on a wall picture. Sometimes a fine piece of lettering is all it takes to make a plain surface personal. That is what these veneer letters in dark wenge are for. They are wooden letters in the flowing script font Monotype Corsiva. You put them together letter by letter to spell out your own text. Ideal for your next project close to your heart. If you are looking for an E script with a flourish, you get it here in real wood instead of print.

What changes for you

  • You can decorate door signs, furniture or gifts with real wood instead of vinyl. The letters are finely laser-cut from real wenge veneer.
  • Your lettering stands out clearly on light backgrounds without any painting. That is because wenge is naturally dark.
  • You stay free in your design. You choose capital and lower-case letters individually and put together names, initials or whole words yourself.
  • Your result looks light and elegant at the same time. The delicate veneer of approx. 0.6 mm lies flat on the surface, as if the text were part of the background.

Why veneer letters make a difference in everyday life

A printed sticker is still just a sticker. Lettering in real wood shows care. When guests walk past the door sign or pick up the gift, they notice the difference. They see the fine grain, the dark, warm colour and the flowing script. A labelled object becomes a piece you have designed with intent.

Material & finish

Each letter is made of real wenge veneer and left in its natural state. It is not painted and not oiled. This keeps the fine wood grain clearly visible. Wood is a natural product, so every letter has its own pattern. Each piece is unique, and that is not a flaw. The letters are laser-cut in Bütic's own production in Pößneck. That is why even the fine curves and flourishes of the script are cut cleanly and precisely.

Dimensions & technical details

  • Material: real wenge wood veneer, untreated (not painted or oiled)
  • Veneer thickness: very delicate, approx. 0.6 mm
  • Font: Monotype Corsiva (script)
  • Choice of height: 5 cm or 10 cm – the chosen height applies to the capital letters
  • Lower-case letters are made to the same scale, as designed in the typeface, so they are smaller than the selected size
  • Some capital letters have flourishes that extend beyond the chosen height
  • Each letter is made and supplied individually
  • Suitable for gluing on, for all kinds of decoration

How to use the veneer letters

  • On the nursery or front door: the name as lettering on the door sign. Your entrance gets its own handwriting.
  • When wrapping gifts: stick initials on the gift box. The present looks lovingly made even before it is opened.
  • On furniture or wall pictures: a word, a quote, a monogram. A plain surface becomes a piece people want to look at and touch.
  • For a wedding or christening: names and date on a guest book or memory box. A keepsake that lasts.
  • In a shop, café or studio: your company name or a welcome on signs and shop decoration. Real wood instead of print shows care at first glance.

Good to know about wenge

Wenge is one of the darkest woods by nature. Its deep, almost chocolate-brown colour comes without stain or varnish. That makes it ideal for lettering. On light backgrounds such as wood, paper or painted walls, every letter stays easy to read. And if you are comparing fonts for individual characters like the letter D or K: Monotype Corsiva shows its flowing, sometimes ornate shapes especially in the capital letters.

Care & durability

There is not much you need to do. The veneer is untreated and very thin at approx. 0.6 mm. So handle it gently when gluing it on and keep the letters dry. Protected from constant moisture, the lettering keeps its dark, warm look for a long time.

Options & what's included

  • Choice: capital and lower-case letters, each available individually
  • Height of your choice: 5 cm or 10 cm (based on the capital letters)
  • Important so that everything matches: order all letters in the same size, even if the word starts with a capital letter. This keeps capital and lower-case letters in proportion.
  • As a guide, here is an example in the font Arial at 10 cm: the capital O is 10 cm high, the lower-case a 7.3 cm, the lower-case h 9.7 cm. The lower-case g is 10 cm high but reaches about 2.6 cm below the baseline. In script fonts such as Monotype Corsiva, the lower-case letters are often a little smaller still.

Frequently asked questions

Are capital and lower-case letters the same height? No. The chosen height (5 or 10 cm) applies to the capital letters. Lower-case letters are made to the same scale and are therefore shorter. This is exactly how the font is designed.

How do I attach the letters? The veneer letters are meant to be glued on. For example on door signs, furniture, wall pictures or gift packaging.

Is the wood treated? No, the wenge veneer is in its natural state, neither painted nor oiled. The fine grain stays visible, as you can see in the pictures.

Why does my letter look slightly different from the photo? Wood is a natural product. Grain and colour vary slightly from piece to piece. This makes every letter unique.

Veneer thickness and fonts are only the technical side. What really counts is the moment someone stands at the door, reads their own name in real wood and pauses for a second. Simply choose your letters and the right height. The script does the rest.

Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods do not match the description or do not function as intended. Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer free repair or free replacement; in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement. Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year. For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code or ask the seller: europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees. What to do if you receive non-conforming goods: 1. Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue. 2. Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement. Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
