Every character is made from dark real wood veneer. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That's where the typical brown edge comes from. The surface arrives untreated in its natural state. You can paint it, oil it or simply leave it as it is. As a natural product, the veneer shows its own grain and slight variations in colour. This makes every character one of a kind, not faulty.

• The height you choose refers to the capital letters. Lower-case letters are made to the same scale and are therefore smaller (example Arial at 10 cm: capital O 10 cm, lower-case a 7.3 cm, lower-case h 9.7 cm, lower-case g 10 cm with around 2.6 cm below the baseline)
• Some capital letters have flourishes that extend beyond the chosen height

The characters are real wood. Yet they are so light and flat that you can fix them almost anywhere solid wooden letters would be too heavy or too thick.

Care & durability

There isn't much to do. A dry dusting now and then is enough. Avoid constant moisture. As a natural material, the veneer is happiest in dry indoor rooms. Oiling or painting the surface brings out the dark shade and gives it extra protection.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the lower-case letters smaller than the size I chose? The height you choose applies to the capital letters. Lower-case letters are made to the same scale, as the font dictates. So always choose the same size for a whole word.

How do I fix the letters? At only around 0.6 mm thick, the characters are easy to glue. You can also drill them if needed.

Can I change the colour of the letters? Yes. The wood arrives untreated in its natural state and can be painted, oiled or covered.

Where does the brown edge come from? The characters are laser-cut. The brown edge forms naturally in the process and traces the outline of each letter.
