Wooden veneer letters, Cooper dark, 5–20 cm

With these wooden letters in dark real wood veneer, you put together your own text letter by letter. The font is the rounded Cooper typeface. Finely laser-cut and with visible grain, they look as if they were made for your wall. Calm, natural and close to the wood.

Material & finish

The letters are made of real Makore or Sapele/mahogany wood. They are left natural, neither painted nor oiled. This keeps the fine wood grain visible. Each letter turns out slightly different in shade and pattern. That is not a flaw but the mark of a real natural product. The letters are made in our own production in Pößneck. They are very finely laser-cut with clean edges. This brings out even the curved details of the Cooper font clearly and sharply.

• Lower-case letters are made to the same scale as set out in the font. So they do not reach the full chosen height (example Arial at 10 cm: capital O 10 cm, small a 7.3 cm, small h 9.7 cm; the small g is 10 cm tall but reaches about 2.6 cm below the baseline)

• Our tip for consistent words: Order all the letters of a word in the same size, even if it starts with a capital. This way, upper and lower-case letters match exactly in scale.

About the Cooper typeface

Cooper goes back to the American type designer Oswald Bruce Cooper. Since the 1920s, it has been known for its soft, rounded shapes. These curves look warm and welcoming. That is why the font is well suited to names, greetings and friendly shop signs. It works wherever the text should look cordial rather than strict.

Care & durability

There is not much you need to do. The veneer is untreated and very thin. So it is best to treat the letters like fine paper made of wood. Use them dry, handle them with care and keep them away from constant moisture. This way, the grain stays as striking as on the first day.

Frequently asked questions

Are the lower-case letters as tall as the chosen size? No. The chosen height applies to the capital letters. Lower-case letters are made to the same scale as set out in the font, so they are slightly shorter. For one word, order all the letters in the same size.

Is the wood treated? No, the veneer is in its natural state, neither painted nor oiled. The fine wood grain stays visible, and every letter is one of a kind.

Can I stick the letters on? Yes, you can glue the letters and use them for decoration of any kind. From walls and furniture to cards.

Why do some letters go beyond the chosen height? Some capital letters of the Cooper font have flourishes that extend beyond the selectable height. This is part of the typeface and not a fault.
