Why this wooden moon makes a difference every day
Nursery wall, window decoration or place card: a moon made of real wood is sturdier than printed paper. It survives the third craft afternoon without damage. Hang it up, put it in the window or give it to children to hold. The shape stays intact. That turns a quick idea into a decoration that lasts.
Material & finish
Each moon is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it the typical fine brown edge that frames the yellow nicely. The glaze on the front is hard-wearing. Depending on the light, the wood grain and small knots show through. Wood is a purely natural material. These differences in brightness and texture make every piece one of a kind. The back is left natural and untreated, so you can decorate it as you wish. The moons are made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden moon
- Crafting with children: each child paints or decorates their own moon. At the end, they take home a sturdy piece of work instead of a crumpled sheet of paper.
- In the nursery: one large moon above the bed, small ones next to it. Now the bedtime routine has its own starry sky.
- For money gifts: place notes or coins on the moon and write a message on the natural back. That's a gift people will remember.
- For a DIY advent calendar or Christmas decorations: use small moons as hanging ornaments, numbers or window decorations. The light wood glows in the dark time of year.
- For a dream catcher: use the moon as the centrepiece or as a pendant. It gives your project a theme straight away.
- In shops, cafés or nurseries: moons in different sizes in the shop window or hanging from the ceiling. A seasonal decoration that is quick to hang up and looks good without any upkeep.
Good to know about the moon
The moon looks yellow because of our atmosphere. When it is low on the horizon, the air scatters the blue light. What remains is its warm yellowish glow. This is exactly how children know the moon from picture books and lullabies. That's why the motif suits the nursery, lantern season and everything to do with falling asleep and dreaming.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. In dry indoor spaces, the moons keep their colour and shape for a long time. As the back is untreated, avoid constant moisture. Then you'll enjoy your decoration for many years.

Frequently asked questions
Is the glaze suitable for crafting with children? Yes, the yellow glaze meets the requirements of DIN EN 71-3.
Can I paint or decorate the moons? Yes. The natural, untreated back in particular takes paint and glue very well.
Why don't all the moons look exactly the same? Wood is a natural material. Brightness, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. This is not a defect. It makes every moon one of a kind.
Where does the brown edge come from? It is created during laser cutting and is typical of this cutting method. It also means the edges are smooth and precise.
Are the moons suitable for outdoor use? The back is untreated. That's why we recommend the moons for dry indoor spaces or sheltered spots.
Plywood and centimetre figures are only the starting point. What matters is the moment the children proudly hold up their painted moons. Or when your window glows yellow in the evening. Simply choose your size and set quantity. You design the rest.
