Why this MDF cutout makes a difference in everyday life
A home-designed outline tells a story: of a home town, a move, a memory of the Hanseatic city. Instead of shop-bought standard decor, you end up with something on your wall or gift table that exists only once. And because the shape is already right, you can focus fully on the fun part – the designing itself.
Material & finish
The cutout is made from a 3 mm thick, high-density HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is sturdy enough to hang up, stand up and work with, yet pleasantly light. The laser cut gives smooth edges without fraying. So rough edges won't bother you while painting. The board is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That makes it a neutral base for your own design. Pressed wood fibres naturally show lighter and darker patterns and may have small impurities. This makes every piece unique. Every outline is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the Hamburg cutout
- For the hallway wall: design all the federal states one by one and put them together into your own map of Germany. It becomes more complete with every finished piece.
- As a gift for a move or a farewell: add the city colours, photos or a saying to the outline. The recipient then holds a piece of home in their hands.
- Crafting with children: paint, glue, decorate. The ready-made shape gives structure, and the result makes them proud.
- In model making: the precisely laser-cut silhouette fits neatly into your project as a map element or backdrop.
- In a shop or café with a Hamburg connection: design several cutouts in the same style. Use them as counter decoration, price tag holders or window display elements. They're quick to set up and instantly recognisable as regional.
Good to know about Hamburg
As the Free and Hanseatic City, Hamburg is one of Germany's 16 federal states. It is also one of only three city states. That's why its compact silhouette is so popular for federal state projects. It stands for the harbour, the Elbe and Hanseatic tradition. It's instantly recognisable as Hamburg, even without a label.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store it dry and protect it from lasting moisture. Then the untreated fibreboard keeps its shape and stays a reliable base for your design for a long time. Once painted or varnished, the surface is additionally protected.
