Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The Advent afternoon is planned and the children are already sitting at the table. All that's missing is a base where paint, glue and ideas can turn into something. That's exactly what these red wooden squares are made for. They are laser-cut decorative cutouts made of poplar plywood. You order them in the size you need, from 5x5 to 40x40 cm. So you can start crafting straight away instead of cutting everything to size first.
What changes for you
- You can start your project right away, without a saw or sandpaper. Every square arrives laser-cut, accurate to size and with smooth edges.
- You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose from 5x5 to 40x40 cm in 1 cm steps, and order each size individually.
- You can craft with children in a relaxed way. The red glaze meets the requirements of DIN EN 71-3.
- Your lettering, stickers and designs stay neat and flat. The 3 mm plywood gives you a stable surface.
- You can carry on decorating just the way you like. The natural back can be painted, covered with stickers or simply left as it is.
Why these wooden squares make a difference every day
A decorating project starts differently when you're holding a ready-made cutout. There's nothing to prepare, so you can start designing straight away. The warm red adds colour to Christmas decorations, gift tags or door signs. Depending on the light, the wood grain shows through slightly. So every piece keeps its natural look. The result is decoration that looks handmade and made of wood – not mass-produced.
Material & finish
Each square is made of 3 mm poplar plywood. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. That's where the typical brown edge comes from. The cut is accurate to size and neatly finished. The red glaze on the front is not an opaque paint. Depending on the light, the wood grain and small knots show through. This is not a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind. Wood is a purely natural material and always varies a little in shade and texture. The back is left natural and untreated, so you can decorate it however you like.

How to use the wooden squares
- For Christmas crafts with children: everyone gets a square to paint and decorate. In the end, homemade Christmas decorations hang in the window, and everyone is proud of them.
- For gifts of money or a Mother's Day present: write on a small square and attach the envelope to it. A plain envelope becomes a lovingly designed gift.
- As a base for door signs, tags or your own designs: stickers and lettering stick neatly to the smooth red surface and stay easy to read.
- In a café, bakery or at a market stall: write on the squares and use them as price tags or notice boards. They give your counter a consistent, tidy display. And they come in exactly the size your space allows.
- For seasonal decorations in your shop: combine several sizes for a coordinated window or shelf display. You can redesign it every year.
Good to know about the stain
Unlike an opaque paint, a glaze only adds a thin layer of colour to the wood. The texture of the wood stays visible. That's why each red square looks lively rather than flat. This pays off especially for decorations seen up close, such as on a gift or on a laid table.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Simply wipe off dust with a dry cloth and store the squares in a dry place. Avoid constant moisture. This way, shape and colour stay looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Is the glaze suitable for crafting with children? Yes, the red glaze meets the requirements of DIN EN 71-3.
Is the back red as well? No, only the front is glazed. The back is natural and untreated. That's ideal if you want to paint it or add stickers yourself.
Why does the grain show through the colour? The glaze is deliberately not opaque. Depending on the light, the grain and small knots stay visible. This is part of wood as a natural material and makes every piece unique.
Where does the brown edge come from? The squares are laser-cut. This creates the typical dark edge. At the same time, the edges are smooth and the cutout is accurate to size.
Can I write on the squares or stick things on them? Yes, the 3 mm plywood gives you a stable, flat surface for lettering, stickers and your own designs.
A piece of plywood is just the beginning. What matters is the moment a red square has become a homemade tag, a gift or a decoration in the window. And you know: we made that ourselves. Just choose your size and get started.
