Why these wooden shingles make a real difference
In model making, the roof often decides whether a house looks crafted or properly built. Real wooden shingles give your nativity scene, pyramid or model house depth and texture. They also bring the light, slightly rough surface of natural wood. Laying the shingles is a calm, focused crafting moment. Row by row, you see what you have made.
Material & finish
The shingles are made of poplar plywood about 3 mm thick. It is light, keeps its shape and is easy to glue. Each shingle is laser-cut to size after you order, in our own production in Pößneck. This gives you smooth edges with the typical brown laser edge. On the finished roof, it looks like a fine shadow gap. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can work with it straight away. Wood is a natural material. Every shingle shows its own grain, different shades and sometimes small knots. This is not a flaw. It is exactly what makes each piece unique.

- In model making: Houses, towers and huts get a roof true to scale, because you choose exactly the right shingle from 28 sizes.
- As decoration: Painted, lettered or decorated with stickers, the hart's tongue shapes become small tags and ornaments. Use them on an Advent wreath or on Christmas presents, for example.
- For demonstration workshops and shops: In the Christmas decoration of a counter or shop window, the wooden shingles quickly create a display with a handcrafted look.
Good to know about the hart's tongue
The hart's tongue is a traditional cut for roof tiles and roof shingles. Its curved lower edge recalls the shape of a tongue. That is why a model roof covered with it looks so familiar. In miniature, it echoes what you know from historic roofs. This makes it ideal for nativity scenes, pyramids and detailed model making.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. In their natural state, the shingles are meant for indoor use. There they keep their shape for a long time. If your project is going outside, treat the wood first, for example by oiling it. This helps it withstand wind and weather. Don't expose the untreated wood to constant moisture.
