The clipboard is made in our own Bütic production in Pößneck, Thuringia. It's made from 3 mm birch plywood, which is very stable and robust despite being so slim. The convex shape with rounded corners sits comfortably in your hand. The surface is sealed with two coats of hard-wearing, water-based clear lacquer and neatly finished. Wood is a purely natural material. Varying shades, small knots and fine structures in the grain are part of it. That's exactly what makes each piece one of a kind.

Good to know about birch plywood

Plywood is made by gluing several thin layers of wood together crosswise. This means it hardly warps and stays stable even when thin. That's why this clipboard can be so light at just 3 mm. It still gives you a firm writing surface that you can easily carry around all day.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Simply wipe the surface, sealed with two coats of clear lacquer, with a slightly damp cloth when needed. Avoid constant moisture and harsh cleaning products. That way, the wood keeps its smooth, coloured surface for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Is the thin board really sturdy? Yes. Thanks to its layered structure, the 3 mm birch plywood is very stable and robust. It's a firm writing board that still stays light.

Which way does the grain run? The grain may run horizontally or vertically, regardless of the format you order, as we optimise our cutouts to avoid waste. A preferred direction is possible by arrangement – just send us a short message.

Why does each clipboard look slightly different? Wood is a purely natural material. Varying shades, fine structures and small knots are normal and make every board unique. This is not a defect.

Can I attach a pen to the board? Some clips are optionally available with a pen holder. That way, you always have your board and pen together and to hand.

How do I care for the surface? Simply wipe it with a slightly damp cloth when needed and avoid constant moisture. The lacquered surface doesn't need anything more.
