Material & finish

The crab is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck from 3 mm MDF or HDF (high-density fibreboard). Laser cutting gives it smooth edges and the typical brown rim. This is a hallmark of the process, and in many projects it even creates a nice outline effect. The surface is untreated, not varnished or glazed. That is why it takes paint and glue well. Wood fibres are a natural material. The boards can therefore show lighter and darker textures and small irregularities. This makes every piece unique.

How to use the crab

Care & durability

There isn't much to do. Store the untreated cutout somewhere dry. If needed, just wipe it with a dry cloth. Avoid constant moisture, as untreated HDF absorbs water. A coat of paint, varnish or oil makes the surface more resistant. That way, your decoration stays looking good for a long time.
