Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The christening is coming up and the cards need designing. But you're still missing the motif that ties it all together. A small baby hand made of HDF is just right for this. Use it as a gift tag, as table scatter on the party table, or paint it as a wall motif for the nursery. Simply choose the size you need and pick up a brush or glue. The plain wooden cutout becomes your own keepsake.
What changes for you
- You can design the motif exactly to suit your occasion. The HDF is untreated, so you can glue things onto it, paint it, coat it or oil it.
- You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small detail on a card to a large wall motif. Widths range from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can get started right away, with no sanding or finishing – the laser-cut edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
- For bigger projects like guest favours or table scatter, you'll have plenty to hand. The baby hand comes singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- Crafting with children stays relaxed. The 3 mm board sits firmly in the hand and forgives small slips when painting.
Why this baby hand makes a difference
Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A motif you design yourself tells something about you and the occasion. The baby hand is a blank that carries your idea instead of dictating it. You decide the colour, the lettering and the size. That way you create decorations for a birth, christening or baby shower that nobody else has. And they're often kept as a memento afterwards.
Material & finish
The baby hand is laser-cut from 3 mm MDF or HDF. These are high-density fibreboards. They keep their shape and have an even, smooth surface for painting and gluing. The laser cut gives clean, smooth edges. It also creates the typical brown edge that outlines the shape. The material is untreated, not varnished or glazed. Paints, glue and oils adhere directly, with no preparation needed. Wood fibre is a natural material. It can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This makes every piece one of a kind. Every baby hand is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the baby hand
- For a christening: write each guest's name on a little hand. You'll have a place card and a keepsake in one.
- Crafting with children: the siblings paint the hands in their favourite colours. The welcome sign for the baby becomes a real family project.
- For a baby shower: scatter small 5 cm hands across the table. Everyone can see at once what the day is about.
- As a card and gift motif: stick one onto a greetings card or a money gift. A simple envelope becomes a lovingly made memento.
- In the nursery: a large 40 or 50 cm hand, painted and marked with the birth details, becomes a wall motif above the changing table.
- For businesses: use the silhouettes to mark your baby range in a shop window, at a market stall or in a cake shop. The sets of 25, 50 or 100 are enough for larger displays too.
Good to know about the baby hand
For generations, a small handprint has been one of the most loved memories of a baby's first weeks. It captures how tiny a child once was. That's why the silhouette suits a birth, christening or baby shower so well. It picks up this familiar image. Add a name and date to turn it into a lasting keepsake.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Keep the baby hand somewhere dry. If needed, just wipe it with a dry cloth. As the HDF is untreated, you should protect it from long-term moisture. A coat of paint or oil makes the surface more resistant. That way your decoration lasts a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the baby hand straight away? Yes. The HDF is untreated. Paints, pens and glue stick without any preparation. You can start crafting right away.
What's the brown edge? The edge comes from laser cutting and is typical of laser-cut HDF. It brings out the outline. It also gives you smooth edges without splinters.
How tall is the baby hand at a given width? The height increases in proportion to the width. At a width of 10 cm, the height is 9.2 cm.
Do all cutouts look exactly the same? The shape does, the material not quite. Fibreboard is a natural material. The fibres vary in shade and can show small irregularities. This makes every piece one of a kind.
The wooden cutout is only the starting point. What counts is the moment your christening guests hold their little hand with their name on it. And you know this memory will last. Simply choose the size and quantity that suit your idea.
