Your craft table is ready with paints, brushes and glue. All that's missing is a shape that turns your idea into something you can hold. The MDF steamship gives you a clear ship silhouette. Paint it, decorate it or simply leave it natural, just as you like. It's made for your next nautical project. Whether it's a small hanging tag or a large window decoration: you choose the width, and you create the rest.

What changes for you

  • You can start crafting straight away, with no sawing or cutting. The steamship arrives cleanly laser-cut with smooth edges.
  • Your shape fits your project exactly, from cards to wall decorations. You can choose any width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You design it to your own taste. The MDF/HDF is untreated, so you can glue things on, paint it, varnish it or oil it.
  • You can plan larger activities with ease, for example crafting with children or at a club. The steamship is also available in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
  • You get a piece from our own production. It is made by Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this MDF steamship makes a difference in everyday life

A ready-cut shape takes the tedious preparation off your hands. You get to do the fun part: decorating. No more struggling with a template and saw. You simply lay the steamship in front of you and start. A free afternoon becomes a relaxed crafting session. And at the end, a window decoration hangs up that you really made yourself.

Material & finish

The steamship is made of 3 mm MDF or HDF. This high-density fibreboard keeps its shape and feels pleasantly smooth. Laser cutting creates clean, smooth edges with the typical brown rim. The surface is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. This means paints, glue and oils adhere well. Wood fibres are a natural material. They vary in shade and can show small irregularities. That makes every piece unique.

How to use the MDF steamship

  • Crafting with children: every child paints their own little steamship. At the end, they proudly take home a ship they decorated themselves.
  • Crafting money gifts: glue the steamship onto a card for a travel fund. The envelope shows where the journey is heading before it's even opened.
  • As a window decoration in a child's room or bathroom: a large silhouette in the window, and the room instantly feels nautical.
  • In model making or for dioramas: the flat silhouette fills in the background. You don't have to cut it out yourself.
  • In a café, fishmonger's or at the market: use several steamships as decoration on the counter or in the shop window. Your nautical offer is recognisable at a glance. Setting up takes just minutes.

Good to know about the steamship

Like hardly any other ship motif, the steamship stands for setting off and long voyages. It brings to mind harbours, crossings and wanderlust. That's why the silhouette works so well for travel money gifts and farewell cards. It's also popular as decoration for christenings and First Communions, where the ship symbolises the path through life.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. As the material is untreated, it's best to store the steamship somewhere dry. Protect it from constant moisture. If you want to make it more durable, you can paint or oil it. That way your shape will stay looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the steamship or glue things onto it? Yes. The surface is untreated and neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint it, varnish it, oil it or glue things onto it.

Why does the steamship have a brown edge? The shape is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim along the edges. It's a feature of the process, which also gives you smooth, clean cut edges.

How tall is the steamship at my chosen width? The height increases in proportion. At a width of 10 cm, it is 6.5 cm tall.

Do all steamships look exactly the same? The shape does, the material not quite. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This makes every piece unique.

Is the steamship suitable for outdoor use? The material is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. For outdoor use, we recommend a protective coat of paint.

What really counts is the moment your finished steamship hangs in the window. And you think: I made that myself. Just choose your width and quantity. Your next crafting afternoon will do the rest.
