Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The Kirchweih fair is coming up. The sign for the Oktoberfest buffet still needs a fitting motif. And you are missing just the right thing to craft. With this MDF dirndl, you have a traditional dress silhouette in your hands. Paint it, stick things on it or decorate it however you like. From a small hanging tag to a large wall decoration: a blank made for your next folk festival.
What changes for you
- You can start right away with paint and brush instead of sanding first. The edges are laser-cut and therefore smooth.
- Your motif has clean lines from the start. The outlines of the dirndl dress are already scored into the surface. They give you a clear guide while you paint.
- You will find the right size for every idea. Choose from 5 cm for a place card to 50 cm for a window decoration, in 1 cm steps.
- You can design it just the way you like, because the HDF is untreated and takes paint, varnish and glue well.
- For bigger projects, such as crafting with children or a club party, you save yourself single orders. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces are available.
Why this dirndl blank makes a difference
A ready-cut motif takes the most time-consuming part of the work off your hands. You don't need to saw or touch anything up. You can focus on the fun part: decorating. One afternoon at the kitchen table gives you a garland for the garden shed. Or a lovingly painted table decoration that makes your guests smile as they sit down. Even when several people craft together, all the dirndls end up looking neat and uniform.
Material & finish
The silhouette is made from 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is sturdy enough to hang up or stand up, yet easy to work with. Laser cutting leaves the edges smooth, so nothing frays or splinters. The board is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That makes it ideal as a base for painting, gluing things on or decorating. Good to know: HDF is made from pressed wood fibres. These naturally vary in shade and may show small irregularities. That is exactly what makes each piece one of a kind. Your dirndl cutout is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF dirndl
- Before the Oktoberfest evening: write names on small dirndls and put them at the places. Every guest finds their seat with a smile.
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own traditional dress. A green dirndl, a red dirndl, whatever they fancy. At the end, they take home a keepsake they made themselves.
- On the door wreath for Kirchweih: a painted dirndl in the middle, some ribbon around it. Your entrance welcomes guests before they even step into the house.
- In model making: the fine silhouette adds a ready-cut traditional dress shape to your scene. You don't have to cut it out yourself.
- For restaurants, bakeries or club festivals: with sets from 10 pieces, you can decorate the counter, buffet or marquee in a uniform style. For large events, choose the set of 50 or 100. Then you have the same motif ready for every group of tables.
Good to know about the dirndl
The dirndl was originally simple work clothing for maids in the Alpine region. In the 19th century, it became festive traditional dress. Today, hardly any other motif stands for Oktoberfest, Kirchweih and Bavarian cosiness like this silhouette. That is exactly why it works as decoration straight away, with no explanation needed.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated blanks in a dry place and keep them away from constant moisture. Then they will keep their shape. Once painted or varnished, the surface is protected as well. Your decoration will last for many festivities.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the dirndl straight away? Yes. The HDF is untreated and takes paint, varnish and glue well. Priming is not essential.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. Thanks to laser cutting, the edges are smooth and clean.
Are the outlines of the dress raised or just marked? The outlines are scored into the surface. They serve as a guide while you decorate.
Why do the boards look slightly different? HDF is made from pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This is typical of the material and makes every piece unique.
How wide is my dirndl at the height I choose? For reference: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 7.5 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
This is more than a piece of fibreboard. It is for the moment your guests discover the dirndl they painted themselves at their seat. The party begins before the first glass is raised. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
