Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Outside, the first autumn wind is picking up. Inside, brushes, paints and glue are ready. Only the basic shape is missing. This kite shape made of HDF is made for exactly that moment at your craft table. It's a cleanly laser-cut wooden cutout in a kite shape. You can paint it, cover it or decorate it however you like. Maybe you need a single kite shape for a gift. Or several kite shapes for your next project with children. Either way, you can start straight away with the fun part.
What changes for you
- You can get started right away, with no sawing or sanding. The kite arrives fully laser-cut with smooth edges.
- Your design takes paint, varnish, oil and glue reliably. The MDF/HDF is supplied untreated in its natural finish.
- You get exactly the size that suits your project – thanks to a height you can choose freely from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Group activities in nursery, school or workshop are easy to plan. The kite comes singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
- You work with a stable blank that won't warp. It's made from 3 mm thick, high-density fibreboard.
Why this kite shape makes a difference
A good basic shape decides how relaxed a craft afternoon will be. Instead of filing crooked edges, you focus on colours, patterns and ideas. In the end, a kite hangs in the window, on the wall or in the shop window. It looks as if it were made in one piece. And you've spent your time where it's fun.
Material & finish
The cutout is made of 3 mm thick MDF or HDF. These boards are made of pressed wood fibres. They have a flat surface with good grip and are easy to work with. Laser cutting gives smooth, clean edges with the typical brown rim. This rim gives the kite a subtle outline. Wood is a natural material, so the fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. That makes every piece one of a kind. Every cutout is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia, and is cleanly finished. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF kite
- On an autumn craft afternoon: Each child paints their own kite and ties on a string with bows. Soon a colourful kite parade fills the window.
- For seasonal decorations at home: Hang a few kites in different sizes on the wall or in a door wreath. Your home instantly looks like autumn.
- In model making and creative projects: The stable cutout works as a base plate or decorative element. Cover it, paint it or oil it as needed.
- In nursery, school or youth groups: With sets of 10 or more, every child gets an identical blank. No cutting, no waiting.
- In a shop or café: Labelled kites make seasonal tags for shelves, counters or shop windows. They create a uniform, lovingly presented autumn display. And it's quick to set up.
Good to know about dragons
The kite shape is also called a deltoid in geometry. It really is named after the classic flying kite. Its frame forms exactly this symmetrical shape. So the cutout is more than autumn decoration. It's also hands-on material for maths and design and technology lessons, when shapes should become tangible.
Care & durability
There isn't much to do. Store the untreated cutout in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. Then it will stay stable for a long time. A coat of paint, varnish or oil adds extra protection to the surface. And it gives your kite its very own character.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the kite or stick things on it? Yes. The MDF/HDF is untreated and takes paint, varnish, oil and glue well. It's ideal for painting, embellishing and decorating.
Why does the kite have a brown rim? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim along the edges. It's a feature of the process. It also ensures smooth, clean cut edges.
Do all cutouts look exactly the same? The shape is identical, but the surface isn't quite. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. They can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This isn't a flaw. It makes every piece unique.
How wide is the kite at a given height? As a reference: at a height of 10 cm, the width is approx. 6 cm. The proportions stay the same across all sizes.
Can the kite be used outdoors? The cutout is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. For sheltered outdoor areas, we recommend an opaque coat of paint or a sealant.
What counts is the moment your own kite hangs in the window. Autumn has arrived at your home. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
