You can work with the shape straight away. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres, so the fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This is not a defect. It makes every piece one of a kind, made from natural material. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.
