Why this bat cutout makes a difference in everyday life
Homemade decorations tell a story. With a sturdy blank, they turn out well even when little hands help. Instead of crumpled paper, you end up with a bat in the window. You can bring it out again every year. An afternoon of crafting with children becomes a decoration that lasts. And your home is decorated for Halloween with things you made yourself.
Material & finish
The bat is made from a 3mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It's thin enough to hang up easily. It still keeps its shape and feels good in your hand. Laser cutting gives it smooth, cleanly finished edges, so nobody gets splinters. The board is untreated, not varnished or glazed. That means your paints, glue and decorations stick straight to the surface. Good to know: pressed wood fibres always show different textures. You'll see lighter and darker patches and small imperfections. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF bat
- For Halloween: Paint several bats black and hang them in the window. Everyone on the street will see there's a party here.
- Crafting with children: Each child decorates their own bat with paint, glitter or paper. At the end, they proudly take home something they really made.
- On the table at a Halloween party: Place small bats at every seat. Your guests have something to discover before the first bite.
- For model making or any kind of decoration: Decorate the blanks, glue things on or build them into scenes. The smooth laser-cut edges fit in neatly.
- In a café, bakery or shop window: With a set of 25 or 50 bats, you can decorate your counter and display in one seasonal style. Quick to hang up, quick to take down.
Good to know about bats
The bat has always been one of the classic Halloween symbols. As a nocturnal animal, it stands for the mysterious, dark time of year. That's why the motif works so well as a window, table or wall decoration. Everyone recognises it at a glance, whether painted black or left natural.
Care & durability
There's not much to do: Keep the bat dry and simply wipe it with a dry cloth when needed. The fibreboard is untreated, so it doesn't like constant moisture. Used indoors and stored dry, it will last you through many Halloween seasons.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the bat or glue things onto it? Yes. The HDF is untreated and takes paint and glue directly. You can paint, glue or decorate it without any preparation.
Is the cutout suitable for outdoor use? The board is untreated and should not be exposed to constant moisture. It's best used indoors or in sheltered, dry places.
How tall is the bat at a given width? For reference: at 10 cm width, the height is approx. 5.8 cm. The proportions stay the same across all sizes.
Why don't all the surfaces look the same? HDF boards are made from pressed wood fibres. These vary in shade and can show small irregularities. That's what makes every piece unique.
A fibreboard cutout is only the start. The real moment comes when the bat you painted hangs in the window. And the children proudly show what they've made. Just choose your size and quantity. Then your next crafting afternoon can begin.
