The cutout is made from 3 mm HDF/MDF fibreboard. This is a dimensionally stable material made from pressed wood fibres. It is easy to paint, glue and decorate. This is typical of the material and makes every piece one of a kind. It is not a defect.

Is the MDF gift already treated or varnished? No, the cutout is untreated and natural. So you can paint it, stick things on it or decorate it as you like.
