Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The leaves are falling and it's getting dark earlier. At the kitchen table, brushes, paints and little hands are already waiting for the next project. This MDF ghost is a figure for crafting and painting with just the right amount of spookiness. It's made for your Halloween craft afternoon. Use one on its own as a window decoration or get a set for the whole group of children. The little ghost turns out just the way you imagine it.
What changes for you
- You design the ghost exactly the way you want. The MDF is untreated, so you can paint it, stick things on it, give it a coat of paint or oil it.
- You get exactly the size that suits your project – you can choose any width from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Your craft afternoon starts without any prep work. The laser-cut edges are smooth, so there's no need for sanding or finishing.
- You can easily supply larger groups too, whether you're crafting with children, at nursery or at a club. The ghost is also available in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- You can decorate with peace of mind. The cutout comes from Bütic's own production in Pößneck, made in Thuringia.
Why this wooden ghost makes a difference in everyday life
Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere. A ghost you've designed yourself shows your own style. On the window, the front door or the Halloween buffet, it becomes a decoration that looks made, not bought. And anyone who helped craft it will be all the keener to show off their ghost later. That goes for children as much as for guests, who start chatting when they look at the decorations.
Material & finish
The ghost is laser-cut from 3 mm MDF or HDF. These high-density fibreboards keep their shape and offer an even, smooth surface for painting. Laser cutting creates the typical brown edge, which gives the shape a clear outline. The material is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glues and oils stick directly. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres, so the fibres vary in shade and may show small blemishes. This is not a defect. It makes every piece a one-off made from a natural material.

How to use the ghost
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own ghost. At the end, a whole parade of ghosts hangs in the window, and everyone is proud of it.
- For a Halloween party: hang a few ghosts on strings above the buffet or as ornaments on a branch. The room gets its spooky atmosphere without much setting up.
- As a place card or small gift: write a name on each ghost and put one at every place. Your guests have something to discover before the first bite.
- For model making or as table scatter: the small sizes from 3 cm fit on the table, the windowsill or inside a lantern.
- For cafés, bakeries or shops: with sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you can decorate your counter and shop window in one consistent seasonal look. Quick to hang up, quick to take down again.
Good to know about the ghost
Halloween goes back to the Celtic festival of Samhain. People believed that on the night before 1 November the boundary to the spirit world was especially thin. That is why ghosts are still one of the classic motifs of this season. A hand-painted wooden ghost carries on this tradition, without any plastic spookiness.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Stored somewhere dry, the MDF ghost keeps its shape for many years. You can bring it out again season after season. Avoid long-term moisture, as the material is untreated. A coat of paint or oil gives the surface extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the ghost or stick things on it? Yes. The MDF/HDF is untreated. You can give it a coat of paint, paint designs on it, stick things on it or oil it. Paints and glues stick directly to the surface.
Why do the edges have a brown rim? The ghost is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown laser edge. At the same time, the edges are smooth and don't need sanding.
Do all ghosts look exactly the same? The shape is identical, but the material is natural. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres, which can vary in shade and show small blemishes. That is exactly what makes every piece a one-off.
How big is the ghost at a given width? The height depends on the width. At a width of 10 cm, the height is approx. 8.6 cm. Larger or smaller widths scale accordingly.
Is the ghost suitable for outdoors? The material is untreated and should not stay damp for long. Sheltered under a porch roof or with an opaque coat of paint, it will last longer.
A wooden cutout is only the start. What counts is the afternoon of giggling and painting at the kitchen table. And the little band of ghosts hanging proudly in the window afterwards. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest yourself.
