Material & finish

The silhouette is made of 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It's sturdy enough to stand up, hang and decorate. At the same time, it's easy to work with. Laser cutting gives smooth edges without splintering, so you can start crafting straight away. The board is left natural, with no varnish or glaze. Paints, glue and pens stick well. The wood fibres can vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This comes from the pressed natural material and makes every piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder and keeps it sturdy even when thin.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the silhouette or stick things on it? Yes. The HDF is untreated and left natural. Acrylic paints, pens, glue and napkin decoupage stick well to the surface.

Why don't all the blanks look exactly the same? HDF/MDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This isn't a flaw. It makes every piece unique.

Are the edges smooth or do I need to sand them? The silhouette is laser-cut, so it has smooth edges. You can start decorating straight away.

Is the motif suitable for outdoors? Untreated, it should be kept dry. With an opaque coat of paint, you can also use it outdoors for a while. Avoid constant moisture.

Which size suits my table decorations? For place cards and table scatter, the small heights from 5 cm work well. For the buffet or windowsill, choose larger sizes up to 50 cm. You can select the height in 1 cm steps.
