Why this MDF king makes a difference
Shop-bought Christmas decorations look the same everywhere. A king you have designed yourself tells your story. Use it as a figure in the nativity scene, as a motif in the window or as a decoration on the festive table. The cutout gives you the shape. You decide everything else. An afternoon with brush and paint becomes a piece of Christmas that comes out again year after year.
Material & finish
The king is made from 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is sturdy enough to stand up or hang, yet easy to work with. Thanks to laser cutting, the edges are smooth, so you can start decorating right away. The board is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. You decide on the colour and finish yourself. Good to know: fibreboard always shows different textures. Individual fibres can be lighter or darker and have small irregularities. This makes every cutout one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays sturdy even when thin.

How to use the nativity king
- For the nativity scene: you can make all Three Kings in matching sizes. Your nativity scene grows with homemade figures every year.
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own king. At the end, they proudly take a piece of Christmas home.
- In the window or on the door: a larger king at 40 or 50 cm greets your guests before they even come in. No elaborate decorating needed.
- On the festive table: small kings from 5 to 10 cm as place decorations. Every place setting gets its own figure.
- For nurseries, schools, parishes or shops: with sets from 10 pieces, you can supply craft groups or shop window displays in one go. Same shape, reliable quality, no reordering halfway through the project.
About the Three Kings
The Three Kings are traditionally known as Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar. They have been part of the nativity tradition for centuries. They are celebrated on 6 January, when carol singers go from house to house in many places. So the king is not just for Advent. It stays with your nativity scene and Christmas decorations well into January.
Care & durability
There is little you need to do. Keep the untreated cutout dry and protect it from constant moisture. That way it keeps its shape and is ready for next Christmas. Once painted or sealed, the surface has extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the king or stick things on it? Yes. The HDF comes in its natural state, so it is untreated. You can paint it, colour it in, stick things on it or decorate it however you like.
How wide is the figure? The width depends on the height you choose. At a height of 10 cm, the king is 5 cm wide.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. The cutout is laser-cut and has smooth edges. You can start decorating straight away.
Are all three kings included? This item is the Holy King in version V2. For a complete nativity scene, you can add the other motifs.
Can the cutout be used outdoors? The board is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. For outdoor use, we recommend a protective coat of paint or a sealant.
This is about more than an MDF cutout. It is about the moment your homemade nativity scene is set up and everyone stops to look at it at Christmas. Simply choose your height and quantity. Then start creating.
