Why this MDF king makes a difference
Ready-made Christmas decorations are everywhere. But a figure you've decorated yourself tells your story. The king becomes your own project. It might be a quiet craft afternoon in Advent, time spent making things with the children or a personal detail in the nativity scene. The result is Christmas decor that isn't random. It belongs to you.
Material & finish
The king is made of 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is sturdy enough to stand up and decorate. At the same time, it is light enough for window and hanging decorations. Laser cutting gives smooth edges and a clean outline, even on fine details. The board is untreated, not varnished or glazed. This means paint, glue and pens stick well. Good to know: fibreboard naturally shows fibres in lighter and darker shades and small irregularities. This makes each piece one of a kind and is not a defect. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, just more densely compressed. This makes it harder, so it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the nativity king
- In the nativity scene: paint the king in warm colours and place him beside Mary and Joseph. Your nativity scene gets a personal, handmade detail.
- In the window: hang up or stand several small kings. Your Christmas decorations greet everyone who passes by.
- On the festive table: place a small king at each setting as a place card or small gift. Your guests have something to smile about before the meal.
- Crafting with children: everyone decorates their own king with paint, glitter and paper. It makes for a quiet Advent afternoon with results to show off.
- For nurseries, schools, parishes or craft groups: with sets of 10 or more, you can plan bigger projects such as a Christmas fair or nativity play decorations. Ordering stays simple.
- In a shop or café: at 40 or 50 cm tall, the king fills shop windows and counters. It's set up in a few minutes and your Christmas decorations are ready.
About the Three Kings
The Three Kings, traditionally named Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, are celebrated on 6 January. On this day, carol singers go from house to house and write the blessing on the doors. In many families, the king figures only join the nativity scene on this day. So your self-decorated king stays with you through the whole Christmas season, from Advent to Epiphany.
Care & durability
There's not much to do. Simply wipe off dust with a dry cloth, and that's it. As the board is untreated, it prefers to stay dry. Keep the king away from water and constant damp, and you'll enjoy him for many Christmases.

Frequently asked questions
Is the king already painted? No, the cutout comes to you untreated in its natural finish. You can paint it, decorate it or leave it natural, just as you like.
Do I need to sand the edges? No, the king is laser-cut and therefore has smooth edges. You can start decorating straight away.
Why do the boards look different? HDF boards are made from pressed wood fibres. These can vary in lightness and show small irregularities. This makes every piece one of a kind.
Is the king suitable for outdoors? The board is untreated and belongs in dry indoor spaces. For sheltered outdoor areas, seal it first with varnish or glaze.
Can I combine several sizes? Yes, you can choose any height from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps. For example, you can put together three kings in graduated sizes.
This is more than an MDF cutout. What counts is the moment your own king stands in the nativity scene. Christmas then feels a little more personal. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
