Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. Two weeks to go until Halloween. The children want to get crafting, and the window is waiting for a little spookiness. This is where the HDF witch's cauldron comes in. The laser-cut wooden cutout comes in its natural, unfinished state. It's a blank surface you can paint, cover or decorate however you like. Just right for your crafting afternoon: you choose the colours, the cauldron provides the shape.
What changes for you
- You get straight to decorating instead of sawing. The witch's cauldron arrives neatly laser-cut and ready to use.
- Your decoration fits exactly where you want it, whether on a windowsill, a wreath or in a shop window. You can choose any height from 3 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- When crafting with children, you can use paint, glue or oil without worry. The untreated MDF/HDF takes everything well because there is no varnish in the way.
- Your shape looks good even left plain. The typical brown laser edge traces the outline of the cauldron all by itself.
- You can supply bigger projects with no extra effort. Sets of 10 to 100 pieces are available for a nursery group, a school class or shop decorations.
Why this witch's cauldron makes a difference
Shop-bought Halloween decorations look the same everywhere. A cauldron you decorate yourself tells your own little story. You get to see a plain wooden shape turn into something children are really proud of, with just a few brushstrokes. And because you choose the size, the shape fits into your scene without taking it over.
Material & finish
The cauldron is laser-cut from 3 mm MDF or HDF. This high-density fibreboard keeps its shape and feels pleasantly smooth. The laser cut leaves clean edges. They have the typical brown rim that outlines the shape. The surface is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint, oil or cover it right away. Slight differences in shade and fibre structure are part of wood as a natural material. They make every piece one of a kind. The cutout is made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the witch's cauldron
- Crafting with children before Halloween: everyone paints their own cauldron. By the evening, a whole row of little works of art is hanging in the window.
- For party decorations: one large cauldron as the centrepiece on the buffet, small ones as name place cards. Your guests find their seats and have a party favour to take home.
- For model making or a witch's kitchen in the children's room: the small sizes from 3 cm fit into dioramas and miniature worlds without looking bulky.
- In a café, bakery or market stall: painted cauldrons on the counter get customers in the mood for the season in October. They are quick to set up and can be reused every year.
- As a base for a money gift: stick notes or coins onto the cauldron. Your Halloween party invitation now comes with an original extra.
Good to know about the witch's cauldron
Since fairy tales and old legends, the steaming cauldron has been part of how we picture a witch. From magic potions to Walpurgis Night. That's exactly why the shape works so reliably as a decoration. Everyone recognises it at first glance, whether on the front door at Halloween, at a themed party or in a shop window.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the cauldron in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. As untreated fibreboard, it doesn't like standing water. Once painted or oiled, it keeps its shape for many seasons. So you can bring it out again year after year.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the witch's cauldron straight away? Yes. The surface is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paint, glue or oil stick directly, with no need for pre-treatment.
Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The cauldron is laser-cut, which creates the typical dark rim along the edges. It gives the shape a clear outline and is not a defect.
How wide is the cauldron at the height I choose? As a guide: at a height of 10 cm, the width is approx. 8 cm. The proportions stay the same across all sizes.
Do all cutouts look exactly the same? The shape does, but the surface can vary slightly. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can differ in shade and show small irregularities. That is exactly what makes each piece unique.
Is the cauldron suitable for outdoor use? The material is untreated and should not be exposed to moisture for long periods. In sheltered spots and with an opaque coat of paint, it will last much longer.
A wooden cutout is only the start. What counts is the afternoon of painting and giggling at the kitchen table. And the decoration that gets proudly hung up afterwards. Just choose your height and quantity. You'll design the rest together.
