The board is untreated, so it has no varnish and no glaze. Paints, glue and pens stick straight to the surface. Good to know: HDF boards are made from pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This is not a defect. It makes every piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.
