Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A model-making weekend is coming up. The craft table is ready with paints and brushes. Only the subject is missing. The MDF tank V2 is a blank shape for painting, covering and decorating. It is made for your next craft project. In your hands, the untreated silhouette becomes a finished piece for a diorama, themed decorations or a gift for a model-making fan.
What changes for you
- You can start creating right away, because the MDF is natural and untreated. Paint it, cover it or decorate it, just as you like.
- You get exactly the size your project needs. The tank can be ordered in heights from 5 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You don't need to sand or tidy it up. The silhouette is laser-cut, so the edges are smooth.
- Bigger projects are easy to plan. Besides single pieces, there are sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100. They are ideal for craft groups or themed decorations.
Why this MDF tank makes a difference
Buying a finished shape often means taking whatever is on offer. With a natural-finish cutout, you decide on the colour, pattern and style yourself. The result suits your diorama, your display cabinet or your gift idea exactly. A plain piece of fibreboard becomes something that shows your own style.
Material & finish
The tank V2 is laser-cut from 3 mm HDF/MDF fibreboard in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. It is cleanly finished with smooth edges that feel pleasant and are easy to paint. The board is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. Paint and glue stick directly to the surface. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. That's why the cutouts show fibres in different shades and small irregularities. This makes every piece one of a kind and is not a defect.

How to use the MDF tank
- In model making: Use it as a silhouette in the background of a diorama. Your scene gains depth without you having to build every detail.
- Crafting at home: Paint, cover, decorate. In the end, you hold a piece you designed yourself, and there is no other quite like it.
- As gift decoration: Put it on a parcel for a model-making or technology fan. Even before it's unwrapped, it's clear that someone put thought into it.
- For groups and classes: With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, everyone at the craft afternoon gets their own blank. No cutting, no preparation.
- In shops: Use it as a recurring motif in the window or on the shelves of a model-making or craft department. The pieces match, are quick to place and can be designed individually.
Good to know about MDF
MDF is made of finely pressed wood fibres. Unlike solid wood, it has no knots and no continuous grain. That is exactly why it is so popular for crafting and painting. Paint goes on evenly, and the laser cuts the outline cleanly and precisely.
Care & durability
There isn't much to do. Keep the cutout dry, because the board is untreated and doesn't like constant moisture. A coat of paint or a sealant of your choice will keep your finished piece looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or cover the tank? Yes. The MDF has a natural finish and is untreated. You can paint it, cover it and decorate it.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. The cutout is laser-cut, so its edges are smooth.
Why do the fibres look different? HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. They can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This is typical of the material and makes every piece unique.
Is the cutout available in larger quantities? Yes. As well as single pieces, you can order sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
A tank-shaped piece of fibreboard is only the starting point. What counts is the moment your diorama stands finished in front of you. Or the moment your own piece looks just the way you imagined. Simply choose your size and quantity, and get started.
