The craft table is set. Paints and brushes are ready. All you need now is a blank to work with. This MDF wooden square with 4 holes is made for your next crafting afternoon. It has a smooth surface for painting and rounded corners. Its four holes let you thread ribbon, string or wire through. A simple idea quickly becomes a finished piece to hang up, join together or give away.

What changes for you

  • You can start right away, with no sanding or sawing – the square is laser-cut and has smooth edges.
  • Hang up your creations straight away or join several pieces together – thanks to the four holes, each 3 mm in diameter.
  • Your paints, varnishes and oils adhere reliably – because the wood comes untreated, in its natural state.
  • You'll find the right size for every project – from 3 to 50 cm wide, in 1 cm steps.
  • No sharp corners when crafting with children – the 5 mm radius curves sit comfortably in small hands.

Why this MDF square makes a difference in everyday life

Many craft ideas stall at the start. Cutting, drilling and rough edges get in the way. With a ready-made 4-hole square, that step disappears. You go straight to the fun part: designing. Making Christmas decorations, a Mother's Day gift or wrapping a money gift with care? The blank gives you a reliable base on which every idea can take shape.

Material & finish

This square is made from 3 mm HDF. It is laser cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Laser cutting gives clean, smooth edges. It also leaves the typical brown edge that comes with this method. HDF is a pressed wood fibre board. Its fibres naturally vary in shade, and there may be small irregularities. That makes every piece unique. The untreated surface takes paint, glue and oil well. You can cover it, paint it or oil it, just as your project needs. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF square

  • Crafting with children: each child paints their own square and threads ribbon through the holes. At the end, a little work of art hangs in the window.
  • Make an Advent calendar: label and number 24 squares and string them on a cord. The result is a calendar you can use again every year.
  • Make money gifts: attach a note to a painted square and pull a bow through one hole. The gift feels personal rather than casual.
  • Make a dreamcatcher: the four holes are good for threading yarn, feathers and beads. Piece by piece, you create your own design.
  • In a café or at the weekly market: label the squares and hang them up as small price or variety tags. Your display looks tidy and uniform, with little effort.

Good to know about MDF and HDF

HDF stands for high-density fibreboard. It is made from finely pressed wood fibres. Unlike solid wood, it has no continuous grain and no knotholes. That is why crafters like it so much. Paint covers evenly. You can paint designs on cleanly. And nothing splinters when you thread string through the holes.

Care & durability

There isn't much to do: store the squares in a dry place. Keep the untreated material away from constant moisture. If you paint, oil or varnish the surface, you protect it further. Your decorations will then look good for a long time.

Options & what's included

  • Width freely selectable from 3 to 50 cm, in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100
  • The untreated MDF square is supplied in its natural state – ribbons, paints and decorative materials shown in product images are not included

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the square or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated and in its natural state. You can paint it, oil it, stick things on it or decorate it however you like.

How big are the holes? Each of the four holes is 3 mm in diameter. They fit cords, ribbons or thin wire.

Why does the square have a brown edge? It is cut by laser. This creates the typical brown edge. It is a feature of the process, which also gives smooth edges.

Do all squares look exactly the same? The dimensions are precise. The fibre structure, however, varies slightly in lightness and pattern. This is typical of the material and makes every piece one of a kind.

A few blanks, some paint and string are all you need for an afternoon of making something of your own. Hang it up, give it away or keep it. Simply choose your width and quantity, and get started.

Your legal guarantee rights

EU notice “Legal guarantee”: Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union. Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods do not match the description or do not function as intended. Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer free repair or free replacement; in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement. Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year. For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code or ask the seller: europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees. What to do if you receive non-conforming goods: 1. Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue. 2. Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement. Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
