It is neither lacquered nor glazed, so it takes paint, glue and varnish well. Because it is made from pressed wood fibres, each disc has its own texture. The fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This makes every piece unique and is not a defect. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.
