Material & finish

The disc is made from 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard and is laser cut in Bütic's own production in Pößneck. That's why the edges are clean and smooth, with no splintering or fuzzing. The board is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. That is exactly what makes it so easy to design with. You choose the colour and finish yourself. Good to know: pressed wood fibres always show different textures. Some fibres are lighter, some darker, and now and then there are small impurities. This is not a defect. It makes every disc one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, just more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.
