Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. This year you want to make your own Advent calendar. The children want to join in. What you still need is a base shape that does more than just lie around. This MDF disc with 4 holes is wood with holes in the best sense. It has a smooth, untreated surface to paint and stick things on. You can thread ribbons, cords or string through it. It is made for your craft table. The blank becomes wall decoration, a mobile or a window hanging.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, gluing or decorating straight away. The MDF surface is untreated and takes paint and glue well.
- You can hang up your decorations without drilling or fiddly tricks. The four pre-cut holes are 4 mm in diameter and take ribbons and cords.
- Your children can join in safely. The laser-cut edges are smooth and do not splinter.
- You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose a width from 5 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Bigger craft sessions are easy to plan. The disc is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this MDF disc makes a difference every day
If you love crafting, you know the feeling. You have the idea, but not the right base shape. Or you would have to saw it out and sand it first. With a ready-made disc as your base, you have more time for the fun part: designing, painting, hanging up. And because you choose the size, the same shape works for a small gift tag and for a large wall decoration.
Material & finish
The disc is made of 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard and is laser cut. This gives it a smooth edge with no reworking needed and a clean finish. The board is untreated, neither painted nor glazed. So you are free to decorate it however you like. Good to know: fibreboard always shows varying textures. Some fibres are lighter, some darker, and small impurities may occur. That is exactly what makes every piece unique. It is a feature of the natural material, not a flaw. Every disc is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, just more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF disc
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own disc. In the end, a little work of art hangs on a ribbon in the children's room.
- Making Christmas decorations: stick numbers on the discs and thread them onto a cord. Your home-made Advent calendar is ready.
- For money gifts and tags: label a small disc with care and attach it to the gift. Your present feels personal rather than shop-bought.
- Model making: the 3 mm thick board serves as a sturdy base plate or component. The smooth laser-cut edges help everything fit together neatly.
- In your shop or at your market stall: label it as a sign or tag and hang it at the counter. Your goods are clearly labelled without having anything specially made.
Good to know about MDF and HDF
HDF is made of finely pressed wood fibres. Unlike solid wood, it has no grain direction. So nothing tears out when it is lasered, painted or glued, and the surface stays evenly smooth. This makes the material especially well suited to craft projects where paint and glue need to hold cleanly.
Care & durability
There is not much to do. Store the untreated discs in a dry place and protect them from constant moisture. They will keep their shape and their smooth surface. If you want to use them outdoors for longer, it is best to give them a protective coat.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the disc or stick things on it? Yes, the HDF is untreated and left natural. You can paint it, stick things on it or decorate it however you like.
How big are the holes? All four holes are 4 mm in diameter. They suit standard ribbons, cords and string.
Why do the discs look different? Fibreboard naturally has lighter and darker fibres and small differences in texture. This is due to the material and makes every piece one of a kind.
Can I use the disc outdoors? Untreated, it should be kept dry. For outdoor use, give it a protective coat first.
A fibreboard disc with four holes is only the start. Over an afternoon, a plain disc turns into something of your own in your hands. And you hang it up with pride. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest yourself.
