The butterfly is made from 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That's why the edges are smooth and clean, with no splinters. The material is left untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue and varnish well. As a pressed wood fibre product, each board shows lighter and darker fibres and small textures. This isn't a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.
