Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Outside it gets dark early, inside there's the scent of tea – and the window still needs a motif for winter. The MDF snowflake brings a motif into your home that you can design just the way you like. Paint it, stick things on it, hang it up – it's made for your crafting afternoon. A plain wooden cutout becomes your own winter decoration.
What changes for you
- You make your own Christmas decorations instead of buying ready-made ones. The HDF is untreated, so you can stick things on it, paint it or oil it.
- You'll find the right size for every spot, from a small tree ornament to a large window motif – thanks to widths from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can craft with children in a relaxed way, without catching on rough edges – because the laser cut leaves smooth edges.
- You can decorate your windows, branches or festive table in one go – with sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
- You get clean workmanship from Bütic's own production in Pößneck – made in Thuringia.
Why this MDF snowflake makes a difference day to day
Shop-bought decorations look the same in every home – a snowflake you've designed yourself carries your personal touch. Whether dotted in white, covered in glitter or deliberately left natural with the typical brown laser edge: the motif brings a calm, wintry mood to your window, tree and table. And because you choose the size and quantity freely, it adapts to your idea – not the other way round.
Material & finish
The snowflake is made from 3 mm thick MDF or HDF. These are high-density fibreboards made from pressed wood fibres. They keep their shape and are easy to paint. Laser cutting creates the typical brown edge. The edges are smooth. The material is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. Paint, glue and oils stick directly to the surface. Wood is a purely natural material. The fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This makes every piece unique – it is not a defect.

How to use the snowflake
- Christmas crafting with children: each child paints their own snowflake – and in the end, a little gallery hangs in the window that everyone is proud of.
- On the Christmas tree or on branches: hang them individually or in a row. In just a few minutes, several snowflakes come together as a window decoration.
- On the festive table: one snowflake at each place – and your guests have something to look at and take home even before the first course.
- In the shop window of a bakery, café or shop: with a set in different sizes, you can give the whole front a wintry look – hung up quickly, without much effort.
- In model making and embellishing: as a craft supply, the cutout can be decorated, primed and worked into any project.
Good to know about the snowflake
Real snow crystals always grow in a hexagonal shape because of the structure of water molecules. That is why the motif shows an even, six-pointed symmetry. This calm symmetry makes the snowflake a classic winter decoration. It suits the whole cold season, well beyond Christmas.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: stored in a dry place, the snowflake keeps its shape and appearance for a long time. As the material is unfinished, you should avoid prolonged moisture – a coat of paint or oil lets you decorate and protect the surface at the same time. Simply wipe off dust with a dry cloth.

- Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the snowflake? Yes. The MDF/HDF is unfinished and can be painted, decorated, coated or oiled directly.
Why is the edge brown? The snowflake is laser-cut – this creates the typical brown edge with smooth edges. It's not a defect but part of the manufacturing process.
How tall is the snowflake at the width I choose? Width and height are the same: at 10 cm wide, the snowflake is also 10 cm tall.
Do all pieces look exactly the same? The shape does – the surface may show fibres of varying shades and small irregularities, as wood is a natural material. This makes every piece unique.
Can I hang the snowflake up? Yes, you can hang it individually or in a row – for example in the window, on the tree or on branches.
In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the afternoon when brushes, paint and a few snowflakes become your very own winter decorations – and about glancing at the window when they're hanging there. Simply choose your size and quantity and get started.
