Wooden snowman V2 – MDF blank for crafting, 5–50 cm

Material & finish

The snowman is made from 3 mm HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That's why the edges are clean and smooth and the outlines are clearly marked. The board is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. This means you can paint it, decorate it with stickers or coat it straight away. As a pressed wood fibre board, HDF always shows varied textures. Some fibres are lighter, some darker, and there may be the odd small blemish. This is not a defect. It makes every piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, just more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF snowman

Good to know about the snowman

Unlike solid wood, fibreboard has no grain direction. It doesn't splinter at the edges, and you can paint both sides evenly. This is especially handy when crafting with children. There are no rough, splintered edges. Acrylic, watercolour and poster paints cover the surface reliably.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Keep the snowman dry and protect it from lasting moisture. The untreated fibreboard is meant for indoor use. That way, your homemade decoration stays looking good for many winters. A dry cloth is all you need for dusting.
