Why this chimney sweep makes a difference in everyday life
A lucky charm means the most when it's handmade. Instead of buying ready-made decorations, you take the blank in your hands. You add colour and turn it into something unique. Whether on the New Year's Eve table, in the window or as a small extra with a gift: you paint and design the chimney sweep yourself. So there is no other one quite like it.
Material & finish
The chimney sweep is laser-cut from 3 mm thick HDF. This gives it a smooth edge. It feels nice in your hand and is ready to use without any finishing. The material is left natural, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glues and oils stick directly to the surface. As a wood fibre material, HDF can vary slightly in shade and show small irregularities in its texture. This is not a defect. It makes every piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays sturdy even when thin.

How to use the chimney sweep
- For New Year's Eve: a little chimney sweep at every place setting. Your guests start the new year with a smile and a lucky charm.
- For money gifts: stick the banknote on as a chimney or a ladder. A plain envelope becomes a gift people will still talk about.
- For crafting with children: each child paints their own figure. At the end, they proudly take their self-made lucky charm home. Looking for an easy way to paint a chimney sweep? This is the simple option. The shape is already done. Only the colour is missing.
- For Christmas crafts: combine the silhouette with fir branches or hang it in the window. Your winter decorations get a motif that can stay until New Year.
- In a shop or at a market stall: with a set of 25 or 50 pieces, you can decorate your counter, shop window or customer gifts in a uniform style. It's quick to set up and easy to refresh.
Good to know about the chimney sweep
The chimney sweep has been a symbol of good luck for centuries. In the past, a swept chimney protected the house from fire. So anyone who met a chimney sweep could count themselves lucky. That's why the motif suits New Year's Eve and New Year especially well. It also works for exams, house moves or as an encouraging greeting in between.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated cutouts in a dry place and keep them away from constant moisture. This way they keep their shape. You can still paint or decorate them cleanly later on. A coat of paint or oil gives the surface extra protection.
Options & what's included
- Height: 3 cm to 50 cm, in 1 cm steps
- Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the chimney sweep? Yes. The HDF is untreated. You can paint it, decorate it, glue things on or oil it. Paints stick directly to the surface.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. The cutout is laser-cut and has smooth edges. You can start designing straight away.
Why don't all the cutouts look exactly the same? HDF is made from compressed wood fibres and varies in shade. Small irregularities in the texture are possible. That's exactly what makes every piece one of a kind.
Are there quantities for larger projects? Yes. Besides single pieces, there are sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces. They're ideal for craft groups, school classes or shop decorations, for example.
What counts is not the MDF cutout. What counts is the moment when someone holds your handmade lucky charm and realises: this was made for me. Just choose your size and quantity. Then start designing.
