The menu is ready and the market stall is set up. Only one thing is missing: a sign that tells guests from a distance that pork knuckle is on offer. This MDF pork knuckle is made for exactly that. Use it as a buffet sign, as a craft motif or as a blank that you paint just the way you like. It is laser-cut from 3 mm MDF/HDF. It arrives untreated, so you are free to design it however you want.

What changes for you

  • You design the motif exactly to your taste. The MDF/HDF is untreated, so you can stick things on it, paint it or oil it.
  • Your buffet or market stall looks more inviting and is easier to understand straight away. The pork knuckle silhouette is easy to recognise. Marked contours help you with painting and designing.
  • You get the size that really fits your project. Choose a width from 5 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • No sanding needed. The laser-cut edges are smooth and show the typical brown edge as a distinctive detail.
  • Planning larger craft sessions or decorating projects is easy. The pork knuckle is available individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this MDF pork knuckle makes a difference every day

A good motif speaks for itself. Your guests see at a glance what is being served. Your food looks lovingly presented rather than improvised. At home, the cutout becomes a small project that ends with something of your own. Paint it, stick things on it or deliberately leave it natural. That way, a hearty theme turns into a handmade piece that is all yours.

Material & finish

The pork knuckle is laser-cut from 3 mm MDF or HDF (high-density fibreboard). It comes from our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The laser cut gives smooth edges and the typical brown edge. The contours are scored in by the laser and give you clear guidance when painting. The surface is left natural, not varnished or glazed. This means it takes paint, glue and oil reliably. Good to know: HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small impurities. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique.

How to use the MDF pork knuckle

  • At the buffet or market stall: Label it and use it as a sign next to the warming station. Your customers find the pork knuckle before they have to ask.
  • In restaurants and catering: Use it as a motif on the menu or board, wherever the dish is listed as Eisbein, Bötel, Gnagi or Knöchla. Your food gets a recognisable face.
  • Crafting with children or with friends: Everyone paints their own pork knuckle. In the end, a small gallery hangs in the kitchen.
  • In model making or themed decorations: From the Oktoberfest table to rustic party decorations. The silhouette sets the motif, and you choose the colour and style.
  • In sets for club parties, catering or marksmen's festivals: With 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can fit out every table the same way. No need to organise each sign separately.

Good to know about pork knuckle

Hardly any dish has as many names as pork knuckle. In northern Germany it is called Eisbein, around Magdeburg Bötel, in Switzerland Gnagi and in Franconia Knöchla. That is exactly why the motif works everywhere. As a sign or decoration, it is understood straight away in every region, whatever the dish is called on your menu.

Care & durability

There is not much you need to do. As the material is untreated, it is best kept dry and indoors. Avoid constant moisture. If you paint or oil the pork knuckle, you protect the surface even more. That way, your design lasts a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the pork knuckle or stick things on it? Yes. The MDF/HDF is untreated. You can stick things on it, paint it or oil it. The marked contours help you work precisely.

Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The pork knuckle is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It is a normal feature of laser cutting. The edges themselves are smooth.

Do all cutouts look exactly the same? The shape does, the material not quite. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small impurities. This makes every piece unique.

How big is the pork knuckle at my chosen width? The height depends on the shape. For example, at a width of 10 cm the height is 6.5 cm. Other widths scale accordingly.

Is the motif suitable for outdoor use? The material is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. For outdoor use, we recommend a protective coat of paint.

Picture your sign hanging at your stall, or your hand-painted pork knuckle on the festive table. Everyone knows straight away what is being served. Just choose your width and quantity. You design the rest.
