The sun is laser-cut from 3 mm HDF/MDF fibreboard. This gives smooth, splinter-free edges. They feel pleasant to the touch, and you can paint right into the points. The board is left natural, neither varnished nor glazed. That's why paint and glue stick well. Good to know: fibreboard always shows fibres in different shades and may have small irregularities. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, just more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.
